Yes, it is easy to make that change.... just the simple push of a button. And yes, it will hold onto the tally and not delete it when you do that.

Q: How can this be used as a metronome?

No. It has date / current time, day of week on 1 screen. Stop watch with lap times on another screen, countdown timer with current time on a 3rd screen, alarm with current time on another screen, and a final screen with a counting function.

Q: Does the countdown beep have a beep 5 second before the end?

none, button are hard to press buy a 50 dollar watch is more prefer if you are a official.
