Drew Carey Show, The: Complete Series (DVD)

Us long time fans of the drew carey show have been waiting for this box set for literally years, some ppl since the mid 2000s. Before they decided to finally release this DVD "complete seasons" set the only way you could watch Drew Carey(besides steaming digitally thru free apps like Pluto TV and Amazon Prime just added the digital versions of these episodes to buy on their streaming app, you can also watch the episodes live on the Amazon prime steaming app thru these free "channel" called 'Hit Sitcoms' with commercials but they do marathons where they'll play all the seasons all the way thru night and day) on DVD was to settle for Season 1 DVD and a "best of" DVD with 6 episodes across the seasons. This show wasn't released for years on DVD due to music licensing issues like Daria(I immediately went out and bought the Daria complete seasons box set the day it was released from best buy). The same issues plagued "Living Single" from releasing season 2 and on, but they finally did as well. I can't wait till Amazon finally ships this out.

For an anticipated release, this item is very disappointing. Cheap packaging, poorly put together, heavy music based episodes not included and generic music replacements on several episodes. This isn't even the "complete" series since 4 episodes were removed.The aspect ratio for seasons 1-6 is letterbox with black bars on both sides. The widescreen episodes from seasons 7-9 fill the screen so that's an upgrade since most networks that air this show don't carry the widescreen episodes.While I'm not impressed by this set, I suppose it's the best we will ever get considering the licensing for music. If you don't care about any of my particular issues with the set, this may be an item you'd like to own. For me, I'll stick with my homemade set of the show since they are uncut and include the music as well.Also this set uses the same episodes streaming on Pluto so if you're wanting to save some money, just stream the series instead. At least you won't feel like you wasted money going that route..…

Even with all the different music being changed, altered or removed. This is still 9 seasons of comedy gold . I will be buying.

Just be aware that the following 4 episodes will not be included, Drew's Dance Party Special, Drew Carey's Back To School Rock & Roll Comedy Hour ( Parts 1 & 2 ) and What's Love Got To Do With It. Also Musical compositions in certain episodes of this series have been replaced or altered from their original broadcast versions.
