Better than expected.
This thing is surprisingly cool. I took out one of the retractor springs because they’re a little bit too much to fight against for the length of the levers. The dovetailed ways this moves up and down on are nice and snug and it’s a viable tool for fairly precise work.I feel like I could realistically mill plastic with a cross table or a better vice. Maybe really light aluminum stuff with an end mill up to 3/8” and really light passes.Things that are worth pointing out- this thing spins pretty fast in drill press terms. It seems like it has the torque to spin a decent diameter bit or cutter but the vise isn’t solid enough to stop chatter with a multi flute cutter that’s got back relief and is spinning faster than would be ideal. It’s cool it comes with a vise which is adequate for really basic holding, as in stopping a thing from spinning. The moving jaw has no real hold down mechanism except for the slide rail it’s captive to so a work piece could easily be pulled up enough for a bit to get jammed up and pull the piece up even more if you try to put a 1/2” drill bit into a piece of metal. The Wen 3” vice they sell here is also surprisingly decent has an opposing keeper plate to hold the moving jaw down and there is no guide rail right in the way of the center so you can put a bit through something with some extra room to play with, like if you had a countersink on a wood bit for a 2 or 3” screw and didn’t want to move it just to put a hole through a 1” piece of wood. So that vice or something comparable is something one might as well buy at the same time if they’ll be doing anything serious enough for uplift to be a concern.I’m also a big fan of using stubby lathe center drills that only have one flute in a case like this where the revs are higher than they ought to be. They can’t bounce from point to point on two cutting edges in the hole they’re creating. You can get them in 45 or 60 degree angles. It’s about as noisy as a disc grinder or any other tool with gear reduction which doesn’t really bother me but it’s definitely not like a belt driven drill press you could walk away from and forget is running if you got distracted.Definitely worth the price based on experience so far.

On the side of expensive..
The media could not be loaded. Worked as expected, but it does live on the more expensive side for a mini benchtop drill press. It does come with a little mini vise that can be mounted on top of the plate, variable speeds, height adjustable, which are pretty common among the run mini benchtop drill presses. But where we now deviate is you can rotate the drill press 90 degrees and use it as a rotary sander/light grinder and with the variable speeds it 850 - 2800, does require some assembly, and does not wobble or shake when the drill is on at low or max speeds. Must secure the plate if you want to tilt to use the sander/grinder function (but does not come with any attachments or bits for for grinding sanding, that stuff you will need to get yourself). The base plate a cast plate, but there seemed to be a little lack of quality control, the slots were not cleaned up and if they were, they were not cleaned up well. It is level out of the box so the drill is zeroed to the base plate and stays level and stable when in use. Their are two Allen screws in the back that you have to loosen in order to release the grip on the tube to raise and lower. It is not quick and small pain, but it's doable, I just put it on its side and make my adjustments and then stand it back up.How it retracts is by two coiled springs on left and right side behind the drill motor (which are replaceable if you needed to). You do need to secure the plate in order to have a smoother pull down on the drill head, now if it seems to tight and a lot of effort to lower the drill head or it raises really slow or it shakes then there are three Allen screws that press against a guide plate that can either tighten or loosen movement of the drill head those are visible near the handles. The vise it comes with is "functional" meaning it does hold stuff, but if you are not careful you could drill right into (but you can always make adjustments for that). It is a little sticky near the last 10% of the threads so you either need to work it a little or just add some grease.Even with coming with the vise, extra replacement carbon brushes (x2) and it's a decent little package and works well for a small things, especially for a hobbyist. With a few adjustments and assembly, you are on your way. Light enough to move around as needed meaning pick up and move it with ease. Does not come with any bits. Overall, good machine and more versatile with the drill head being able to go 90 degrees.

Great drill press. All pre-setup.
Great smaller drill press. The drill and structure is great. Accuracy comes along with accuracy. I am using this to drill organized holes in pipe. Everything was easy to setup. Quality of components is great.
