the books came perfectly shrink wrapped all together, no defects whatsoever. i am also extremely impressed because i have reason to believe these are the UK editions of these books and I LOVE IT because the covers are matte, whereas the US version is glossy. obviously this is all personal preference and it doesn’t really matter all that much but i am so pleased. the book look and feel so beautiful! i’m so excited!!!!

Addicting and beautiful

This series is basically Gossip Girl with a brief, moody run-in with Euphoria. It follows the messy, dramatic, wildly expensive lives of London’s elite who are dripping in designer labels, emotional chaos, and questionable life choices.The series jumps between two perspectives: Magnolia Parks (fashion icon, emotional wreck, queen of toxic situationships) and Daisy Haites (soft heart, tragic backstory, somehow keeps ending up in literal danger). Each girl gets her own POV book, and the perspective switches every installment. I read the first two back-to-back and then took a casual year-long breather before picking up the last three. I’m really glad I came back because the later books are better. Like, noticeably better.Somewhere around book three, Hastings seriously levels up. The writing tightens. The characters stop feeling like dramatic caricatures and start showing nuance. Even the dialogue, which was fine at first but often felt like Instagram captions with trust funds, suddenly feels richer and more believable. Did she get a new editor? Go on a self-discovery retreat? Sell her soul to write more compelling banter? Whatever happened, it worked.The plotlines revolve around high-stakes love, friendship, grief, trauma, and the general chaos of young people who have unlimited resources and zero boundaries. Usually, I lose patience with books where everything could be fixed if the characters just talked like functioning adults…but somehow, here, it doesn’t bother me. There’s so much emotional complexity bubbling under the surface that you sort of forgive the repeated failure to just call each other.Are the books a bit long? Sure. But not in a “why am I still reading this?” way-more in a “these people are such a disaster I can’t look away” way. Like reality TV, but with better pacing and a lot more pain.Bottom line: If you’re in the mood for emotional chaos, damaged people who are terrible at love but excellent at wearing fabulous clothes, and a series that gets better as it goes—Magnolia and Daisy are ready to rule your summer reading.
