Spend the money to buy it for life
I like it. Works well & I think it was worth the extra money to not have an adapter that would've broken quickly. I promise to update y'all if it breaks at all. ~ April 2025Only one of the USB-C ports is for power btw (I think) because mine didn't seem to charge my mac when the charger was in the other USB-C port (I think). Otherwise I love the new adapter hub.

Great hub on a Thunderbolt 4 laptop w/ 2 monitors
Currently plugged into a Thunderbolt 4 port on a work laptop. Running 1x4k & 1x2k monitors, running both at 60hz (both go higher but Windows won't let me set it higher). Power pass-through works great at 65W (max the laptop takes). I also have a USB switch hooked to the 10Gbps USB-C port that is flawless - it switches mouse/keyboard/mic/webcam without issues, and quite quickly too.I plan to try ethernet later, but haven't yet. Same for the other lower-spec'd ports. It's only issue is that (rarely) the connected monitors output cuts out for a short period. It's only happened a few times (over the weeks I've had it), and they always come back within a few seconds anyways. It's mildly annoying, but the only thing that I could fault this for.I do sort of think the main USB4 cable should be longer though, as it's barely long enough to have the hub behind my laptop and plug it in. There's some mild strain from that short distance. But it's not detrimental from what I can tell, just a mild gripe.

Performs great, small improvements can be made though.
Edit: Good, but severely limited by cable length. And, USB4 extension cables don't work with it as per Cable Matters support. I can't keep purchasing these at the moment until we have the option to replace the cable. If Cable Matters made a version that was similar, but allowed you to replace the cable, I would continue purchasing it.I am using this to run 2 4k 60hz monitors and it is working well with my laptop that supports USB4 (Framework 13). I also have a webcam connected and I use a USB drive as well. Using ethernet works perfectly, haven't noticed a dropout and get full speeds (it would be nice to have a 2.5Gbps port though for internal file transfer). Overall, it works well, but there are some things that can be better about it:1) The USB C connector is nice and tucks away nicely, but it would be better to be able to switch this out with a longer cable (the cable itself is non-removable). If we were able to have the tucking functionality while being able to remove/replace the cable, that would be ideal. A recessed USB C port and could accomplish this.2) There are some minor bugs when connecting the hub, sometimes a display won't come on and so I have to unplug and replug the hub. After that, it works. I can't determine if it's the hub or the computer itself, so that's why I haven't docked a star.Overall, this is now my go-to for USB C hub/docking. I'm implementing it at a larger scale at my company now, but being able to change out the USB C cable with a longer one would seal the deal completely. I hope this option becomes available soon. Thanks for the excellent engineering so far!

Steer Clear
I have a different Cable Matters hub with single 4k DP 1.4 and two USB A, card readers, etc. and it is great. You can feel the build quality, and the video output is top notch (it even works with Samsung Dex). That is why I am so disappointed with this one. From the beginning, the build quality did not seem the same, and I soon discovered that it didn't output with the correct color gamut. I bought used/like new from Amazon and Cable Matters which may be the issue, but it seems like more of a design issue. My adapter would only output in reduced color (8-bit with dithering) to one of my monitors and both were dim and noticeably washed out. It also wouldn't function at all with a Thunderbolt extension cable which has worked fine with every other Thunderbolt peripheral I tried. I didn't bother testing the USBs because at this point it didn't matter. I'm giving two stars because it does output in 4K/60Hz to both monitors, I returned the item.

Works great
Stable with most ports in use including 2 1080p 60hz displays. Gets warm, not hot. Seems to be a different chipset than most similar devices -- initialization of external displays is a bit delayed on boot with this plugged in. I'll take that in exchange for solid stability.

Compact, functional, but doesn't work with 2 identical externals
There is a lot to like about this product. It's not much bigger than a standard size wallet, and it includes nice integrated storage for the attached USB-C tether. It's also got enough ports on it to handle most tasks for most people and it is entirely plug-and-play; I got it up and running within seconds of plugging it in. So if you're looking for a capable dock to travel with, this is a great option. The big negative for me, however, is that it doesn't seem to work with my current setup. I have two identical Lenovo 24" 2k monitors that I use at my workstation. I connected my mac to this device and it displayed on both external screens, but it would only let me duplicate the image on the two externals. When I connected my windows PC, it recognized the display as separate, but it was flickering and fuzzy. I know it's not an issue with my hardware because I have a TB4 dock that plugs into my monitors just fine and I tried multiple cables with this dock. Also, this is a much smaller issue but I do wish that it came with some kind of carrying case or pouch to facilitate travel. It only comes with its cardboard box. That said, this is still a pretty solid little dock. It doesn't handle my workstation very well, but for someone with newer/different monitors or just one external, it may not be an issue at all.
