Does exactly what it’s supposed to!

This is a beautiful little thing and works perfectly. The plug bodies are all solid metal and the two headphone/power socket bodies are magnetic and just click together (if you want them to). Sound quality is very good and the charging speed looks to be very good also, and the specs bear this out - the power handling capability with PD is an impressive 60W. I’ve only tested this with my iPad Pro (2018) so far, but it has worked flawlessly. The last adapter I bought like this was a Lightning version from a no-name vendor several years ago, and it was uniformly awful with the charging speed varying randomly. This USB-C product feels streets ahead in term of quality, and is further vindication that Ugreen is a brand that can be trusted.

Great idea from UGreen.

I've always been a fan of UGreen stuff, finding it to be a good combination of quality and value. This is no exception. Works perfectly on my iPhone 15 Pro and iPad Pro M4, allowing charging and headphone audio at the same time. Solves the problem of Apple deleting the headphone jack! The inbuilt DAC sounds great to my ears too, with no discernible difference in audio quality between it and a more expensive Fiio DAC that I own (although the Fiio does go louder). A thumbs up from me.

Exactly what I needed!

The fact that phones don't come with a proper audio jack these days should be treated as a crime. It used to be so easy; you kept a little pouch with your earbuds in, and when you wanted to listen on the train / wherever, you popped them out, they unwound, you plugged them in, and you were listening. There was no need for charging up (possibly explosive, it seems) earpods, and no need for USB adaptors to have to fish out and plug in first. Basically, by cheaping out on the design of the phones to reduce water ingress etc, phone manufacturers have made our experience worse and forced us into using substandard audio cables. So, like all people in my situation, I went and bought a USB to audio adaptor. Your phone has an expensive DAC to produce nice audio when listening to music / sound, but when you plug in USB headphones, there's no "audio out" that routes the sound from the onboard chip to the phones, like with a normal 3.5mm jack, there's no way to have a simple USB to Audio wire, the USB plug has to contain a full sound card. That's why the plug end that goes into the phone is so big. So, rather than using the gorgeous well-powered DAC you paid thousands for, you're now reduced to the 30-cent chinese mass-produced DAC that the adaptor manufacturer put in there. If they put an expensive one in, your adaptor cable would cost more than the headphones. The other problem is that the USB audio controller also has to manage things like the pause/play/fastforward buttons on speakerphones and clever headphones with inline controllers. This is just a feature to help people mute and adjust volume without needing to log into the phone every time.As you'll have seen, there are lots of cheap cables on here. It's a misconception to think that a USB to audio cable is "just an adaptor". It's not. Inside the USB plug is a mini-cpu doing DAC and ADC for speakerphones, as well as controlling HID devices (play/pause). And if the cable is a power splitter like this one, it's also got to manage all the USB power profiles... IS the phone being charged, or is it charging something else.. etc. Finally, if the USB is more than a charging port, the CPU has to act as a USB hub, managing the connectivity and power to four or more downstream devices. You think that spending £2.99 on a cheap cable with a £0.15 CPU is going to net you a device that's as good as your £1000 smart phone? Not even close. So, the net result is that the phone may not recognise the cheap USB audio device. It may not properly support all the standard functions of a USB audio profile, charging can be hit and miss (you get 'slow' charging, or the charging starts/stops all the time), or the audio can be a bit poor (cracking, popping, gaps in audio, muddy sound, distortions, inability to make out some higher-pitched details in music), or the control buttons misfire (phone swiping left/right, audio muting/unmuting randomly, music starting/stopping, tracks skipping). So, when you're getting one of these cables, just remember, you spend £1000 on your phone, and this cable is going to fundamentally replace one of the more noticeable parts of the phone, the audio subsystem. So don't just pick a cheap one. Go upmarket a little. That's why I went with these. I've bought MANY cables like this over the last few years. Some for laptops with malfunctioning audio cards, some for family, a few for me. They've all had their little quirks, except this one.The design is excellent: The cable shrouds are firm, so it's not going to break when I push/pull it in and out of the phone, the connectors click into place nicely, so you can tell when it's plugged in, even in the dark. The audio is pretty darn good. It wouldn't beat a proper sound card, but to my ears, it sounds as clear through this as through the phone's inbuilt speaker. Charging works perfectly, and the phone notices when it's attached to a proper USB-C charging port and can be charged at full rate. But the best bit, is the magnetic attraction between the two tails. It just keeps the whole thing neat, and (I've found) is a nice little fidget toy when you're idly listening to music / audio.Yes, it costs a little more than the other devices, but in this market you REALLY do get what you pay for. I hope that you understand a little more about what these cables are, and will appreciate that spending an extra few pounds can be very worth it.

Very practical alternative for ChiFi audio on phone

Pros:- Mic works with a TRRS 4-pole 3.5mm set of earphones- Fast Charging works alongside (for a Samsung phone)- Build quality is goodCons:- Audio quality is ChiFi compared to something like the Hidizs SD2 (which is far more well balanced than this)- Lack of dynamic range- Audio quality is still very decent, I'm just being nit-pickyMisc:- Mic input quality as reported by Pipewire is 16-bit Stereo 48KHz- I will be sure to update this review should I have reliability or longevity issues with it

Excellent Sound Quality For Calls And Fast Charging!

I replaced my previous UGREEN USB-C to 3.5mm Jack with this Hi-Res 32Bit version, and the difference is night and day. The sound quality during calls is crystal clear, with no issues at all. Callers say I sound normal, and I can hear them perfectly, too. The charging adapter works great alongside the audio (allowing fast charging), making it convenient to listen to music or take calls while keeping my device charged. This adapter is well worth the extra cost, and I’m so glad I made the switch. Highly recommend for anyone looking for superior audio call quality and reliable performance - plus the magnet attachment for the adapters are like a fidget toy for me when watching movies/tv shows!

Stops working after a month of use

To have this product function so poorly is truly a marvel, despite usb hubs with significantly more function existing for years this play and charge adapter somehow doesn’t work. After using it for a month mine broke and on an irregular basis would begin rapidly switching between being connected and not, this not only does damage to your battery over time due to the stop start charging but is also incredibly annoying as your media will stop every time it disconnects (ranging from about 2 minutes to a second or two) and has to be manually restarted. This may just be a case of me getting a bad one but even then that does not bode well for their quality assurance. Don’t buy this find something from another brand

Good and useful product

I bought a new 13 in iPad recently and the shop took me through all the details. The only thing they didn’t mention was that there is nowhere to plug in your headphones. After a bit of research I found these. I can now charge my iPad and listen to things at the same time. I’ve never had to use something like this before so I can’t make a direct comparison but they work well doing the job I bought them for.
