BLACK+DECKER String Trimmer with Auto Feed, Electric, 6.5-Amp, 14-Inch (BESTA510)

A perfectly priced corded Weed whacker. I received it today and used it today. My first time ever using a weed whacker and it was easy from start to finish. The assembly was easy, it took me all but 5 minutes if that to put it together, plugged in my 100ft extension cord that I brought from Home Depot (which was cheaper than Amazon) and edged up my front yard. The side way edging feels a little awkward using but I’m sure the more I do it the more I’ll get better at it. The gray wheel helps you to keep a good distance from slapping up against any type of bricks you may have it your garden as well. It has more power than I excepted and cuts down anything the line whips across and the automatic line feed works perfect

Love this!Would give it more starts if I could,this thing is an unstoppable force even against sticker bushes.anything pencil sized or smaller it would chop it and mulch it before it even hit the ground.bigger stuff with a little patience and taking smaller bites at it would handle those as well.yes it will go thru a spool of string.took 1.5 spools for my yard and the large patch of black berry bushes that were trying to eat my house.but 15 pack of wire spools is 15 bucks on here.super easy to install new wire.love this thing.no bumping auto wire feed.the 15 pack string was stronger than what came with the trimmer.super powerful trimmer.its a great buy!

Having been used to B&Ds battery units, i wasnt expecting the performance of this corded trimmer. After 6 years of using a B&D battery trimmer, and suffering the last two with battery charging issues, it finally crapped the bed. So i got this, sick of charging batteries and having them last under 10 mins a charge. And if i am honest, the battery units didnt have the power for the tough stuff.This 6.5amp corded unit is a lot louder and more powerful and if you live with St Augustine and or Bahia grass, this unit is the business.It doesn't have the trigger lock like the battery units so be careful, also it uses a two prong cord not the expected 3.It cuts through overgrowth with ease especially if you are edging.The edging wheel is further out than the battery model, so it helps cut through taller st augustine for edging.The only negative is the auto spool. Hence the4 and not 5 stars. I went through the included spool doing half of .12 acres. Luckily i had a spare spool from the battery trimmer, so i was happy they are compatible.The extension cord held in place. Only under stretching the cord did it get unplugged.But watch out not to go over the cord. The trimmer will pick it up quick and wrap it around itself quick. Ask me how i know 😄Assembly was easy, the only screw is for the trimmer guard and its already screwed into the guard so youll have to unscrew it. The adjustable handle was easy to put on after you realize you have to push both sides in on the trimmer to slip the handle on. But after that, it slips on easy.So yeah. Its a great trimmer. Very powerful but it goes through the spool incredibly fast.

If you’re on a budget, I highly recommend this model. I got tired of the battery always dying on my battery powered electric weed wacker, and I did not want the maintenance involved in a gas powered model. Tip: clip a carabiner to your belt loop and slip the extension cord through it on your side. It will make adjusting the cord much easier.

I just bought my second.. First one gave up the ghost .. Bottom just imploded.. I know I could eventually figure it out and get the parts that I need.. Bunch of springs just everywhere.. When I saw the price.. I'll just get another one!.. Maybe when I have the time and figure out what's missing by looking at the new will fix it.. And maybe give to the family or the neighbor.. So easy to use.. 👍

This is very good quality for the price this is the first time that I've used a strimmer I found it very easy to put together and to actually use it .Itcut the grass beautifully I would highly recommend this and for the price I don't think you can go wrong

Well with the money

This is a piece of junk. In it's short life it ate through 5 spools of trimmer line. How long did it live for? One weed eating of a quarter of an acre yard and an attempt to start a second. This is a defective product that should just plain be off the shelf. What happened to end its life, you ask? In my last session, I started to weedwat a plain, flat patch of grass - no curb, no sidewalk, no rocks, no nothin'. On this pristine plot of earth, with grass having grown to a hippie hair-like length of 4" around a tiki torch, I removed the torch, started the weed eater, and within a few seconds the head popped off. That's right, the housing that contains the line popped, well, not clean off, but became distended and angled. I can pop it back in, but it just spins back out of place within a few seconds of starting it. And so you can gauge whether I'm a heavy handed slob who beat this thing up (if you even trust what I say): my last weed eater started producing an awful noise after 3 years in service. It was also a Black&Decker, but battery powered. I was perfectly happy with that kind of record. The one before was replaced after 4 years in service because I got tired of having a cord trail behind me. I did appreciate the noticable power difference coming back to a corded model, but this one is worthless. Don't buy it. Look elsewhere.
