Works good for school
A little slow at times but is okay for basic college work. Annoying that it prevents you from downloading chrome but that's a windows issue. Sometimes the pin screen won't pop up and you need to click enter to enter your pin in.

Nicer Than Expected
So Hubby has needed a laptop for a good minute. We usually buy his refurbished bc he doesn't use a computer as much as I do. A #TB hard drive and top-shelf or even mid-level graphics card would be wasted on him, but he does need a laptop to access work files from home and general computer tomfoolery. So his last system was a refurb/open box Lenovo Ideapad, 4g RAM, and 1T hard drive. We got it from BestBuy Outlet a few years ago. It was so nice I told my sister about it and she got the same one.Fast forward to last December and the age was showing. I think the manufacture date is 2019, and it's showing the age. I was using it for work (WFH) bc he didn't need it. But then he DID need it so I had to go to a backup until he got me a desktop (see review). The BB Lenovo was slow, so very slow it was like Chinese water torture. Booting it up took time, yeah, 2-5 minutes depending on its mood. I'm not talking from shutdown. I mean from sleep/hibernation to lock screen to desktop. Painfully slow, so we needed to upgrade him. We couldn't shell out a lot of money for it, though, so I went shopping. This system has good storage for him. He doesn't take enough pix or do enough browsing to need more than 512G so the extra 128G is just gravy. The 12G RAM is a major step up and he's no longer grumbling about how slow his computer is.Yay.I'm a little jelly. This thing is sleek. At this price, we could afford to grab another. I just got a gamer desktop, though (see review!) so it's not practical.Pros: See abovePlus: That card slot is a good thing since it doesn't have a CD/DVD tray at all (see pic). The camera cover/lock is NICE (see pic). I always tape a little paper over webcams but there's no need with this. One of the USB ports is a USB-C (see pic), which is nice since things seem to be moving that way.I thought I was settling for the 15.6" screen but it's not as small as I thought it would be. My desktop system monitors are 22 and 24 inches respectively and my last laptop was 17", so 15" feels small to me until I actually see it.As stated: Hubby doesn't care. This laptop is the same size as his old one and even the same manufacturer, so yeah. He's good.Cons:No disc tray. Anything he needs to physically add has to be on an SD card, thumb drive, or downloaded. Please note: Hubby doesn't care. For my geeky/gamer heart, it's not nearly enough HD space, but for Hubby it's perfect. The preinstalled bloatware insists on being used even when you uninstall it, but isn't it always?Minimal ports. I need way more USB ports and no ethernet is a deal breaker for me.Caveat: This laptop isn't for me, since I have a gaming/work desktop system. Hubby doesn't care about this at all, so it's just a "that would be nice" thing.Anyway, I like this machine a lot. It's light and clean and a fantastic value for the price. I think it will serve Hubby well.9/10 would recommend.

Buyer Beware
Purchased this as a Christmas gift. Computer did not perform as expected and was extremely slow and/or would freeze. Had issues installing Microsoft apps— install would stall and not complete. When apps ran they would lag.Tried to join a teams call for my child… opened teams an hour before the call to make sure everything would would load and it seemed fine. Fifteen minutes before the call, opened teams to enter the call details. Camera was not loading and preventing me from joining the call as the teams app froze during the process. Finally, just as the call was supposed to start, I was able to get into the call. However, despite making sure I was not on mute and camera was toggled on ( I have been using teams for business calls on a daily basis for the past 3 years, so I’m super familiar with it). Person on the line could not see our hear us. I couldn’t even close the app to try and reconnect. I ended up having to use my cellphone, which connected quickly with no issue. About 30 min after I initially started logging on for the call, I finally had to close the app through the task manager.A brand new computer with these specs should not struggle like this. My 5 year old laptop should not perform better than this laptop. I ended up returning the computer. Paid $350 for the computer and had to pay $65 restocking fee, which is ridiculous for something that was defective out of the box.I will never buy an item like this off Amazon. Ended up buying a similar laptop through Costco knowing they stand by the products they sell and will refund or replace and item at no charge if it is within the return window if it is defective.

Great value for our needs, simple & easy
Everything seems to be great with this laptop. Typical / routine set up - midlevel effort. I see how the older we get the more unsure the process can feel LOL. Using for basic purposes. Mostly email & volunteer work/forms. Great value for our needs

Well worth the price
Laptop was securely packaged and upon opening was easy to setup. Laptop came with one year of Microsoft 365. The AI works awesomely for functionality. Would recommend it for anyone looking for a laptop

Great for my needs
I reviewed the specs before I made the purchase, thought of the uses I would need the laptop for and pulled the trigger. Basically, I need this laptop for drafting documents, spreadsheets (I opted for MS365 suite of productivity apps) and the occasional video & game. It has a full-size keyboard with keypad, no Windows 11 Retina scan entry, just a PIN. The keys are quiet (not backlighted), I like knowing that I can use the built-in camera privacy shutter. The build feels solid to me although its plastic, the rubber footing underneath is solid (keeps the laptop from moving around on most surfaces. The camera resolution is HD but "so so" (I didn't purchase the computer for the camera resolution). Start-up is fast and it has a charge boost function. I really like the function where the laptop will turn on when you lift the screen (It's been a while since I owned a laptop, this may be a feature that's been around for a while! LOL). Overall, I'm enjoying this laptop for "my" needs; if you need a more robust graphic intensive laptop this is not for you. I would definitely recommend!!
