This SFP-SR module is compatible with Cisco not compatible with HP switch, you can search ASIN: B07H9Q7K92 in our shop, it is compatible with HP switch.

Q: I see it supports 10mb, 1000 mb and 10gb. does it autonegotiate? also does it suppote 2.5gb?

Mine so far have autonegotiated to 10gb with no troubles. Usually we have more difficulty when (a) negotiating to a slower speed with (b) optics from a different manufacturer. I don't know specifically about 2.5gb, but that may be more up to the switch than the optics. I am using these in Ubiquity switches and the Dream Machine; there it's been plug and play.

Q: Can this be used with cat8 on the rj45 side to achieve 10 gbps to a sfp+ port on a ubiquiti unifi xg 6 poe?

In my situation the answer is YES! I'm using mainly for 4K camera, so far no issues
