EngstlerQuartz Cuckoo Clock Black Forest House with Moving Wood Chopper and Mill Wheel, with Music EN 483 QMT

I did an enormous amount of research before purchasing this Cuckoo Clock , as it was a Christmas present for my daughter and she has wanted one for many many years. First of all all research says to buy an authentic Cuckoo , and the very best rated ones come from this region in Germany. There are a handful of generations old manufacturers and Engstler is one of them.The first decision I had to make was whether to buy a more modern version that has batteries, or the more traditional weighted 1 day or 8day clock.I chose the latter.3 c batteries is all it takes to get this clock running.The craftsmanship in this clock alone makes it worth every penny. The details, carvings ,clock face, and painting/ staining looks just beautiful.The Cuckoo is a beautiful yellow, and has and the doors open on the hour - And when she sings it even has an echo.After the door closes , the dancers start to spin around, the woodcutter chops his wood, and the water wheel turns.There are twelve different melodies. All have a nice tone.What I really love about this cuckoo clock is it is a blend of traditional craftsmanship , with a little modernization ( i.e. batteries.) Because of this you have a small volume control for your clock, and a light sensor on the front of the clock so it does not chime at night.My daughter absolutely loves her gift, my grandchildren who are 2 and 6 just love it, and my husband says it's time to buy one for our home !

This clock is very nice and has beautiful detail and cratfsmanship. It was also shipped very fast and I received it much much sooner than expected!!! The only complaint that I have about this clock (and it isn’t a problem with the clock per se) is the fact that it takes a special size batteries (baby/clr c batteries) and they are not included with the clock when it is shipped and they are very hard to find in the US (the clock comes from Germany) I finally had to order them from Amazon and Im waiting for them to come. After ai get them I can give a review on how well the clock works. I think for the price of the clock they should supply the first set of batteries as well.

No sound after a couple of years.

This is the best $500 I’ve ever spent.

Purchased as a gift - she loves it, but the little steeple does not fit as the dowels are not parallel and don't go into the holes on top without breaking something. I reported this to the company and received a response "Sorry! Please send us photos." I sent photos and receipt on 12/31 and have received zero responses despite multiple queries. Apparently they need a negative review to resolve so here it is. I'll be happy to change this to a 5 star review but I need my expensive clock made whole.

Made with quality and excellent attention to detail.Easy to set up, easy to mount, easy to enjoy. It will be the centerpiece of our family room for a very long time.

The clock arrived and everything worked as described. Workmanship is excellent. However one of the chains that holds the pine cone weight had come adrift from the clock, and needed a repair to re-attach it. The repair was easily accomplished, however it was disappointing to have the clock delivered in less than perfect condition.

Cuckoo has strange sound, not like a cuckoo! Volume not loud enough, very weak. Appearance is outstanding and very satisfying. Overall a nice clock.
