20 Week By Week Word Family Packets (Teaching Resources) Paperback – July 1, 2008

Really fantastic - my daughter is in 1st grade, so we do some of the activities together so she doesn't get overwhelmed, but by the end of the packet she is working pretty much independently. I really like that a lot of the activities are the same from packet to packet - a little boring for me, but then I know how to read! :) The repetition is important for beginning readers, and even if you don't have a teaching background, you can use these activities as-is. The activities really are well thought-out & useful - I wouldn't use them otherwise!

I am a first grade teacher and was wondering how to help my students learn word families. I bought this book and use it along side other curriculum. I have found that once a word family is introduce my students can complete the pages from this book on their own. First we use the Smartboard to read the story and find any words that belong in the family together, then students are send to complete other word. Great supplement addition.

It is helping my son a lot. I recommend that you do the first page of the lesson at least for 2 days or just review it before the you start the lesson of the day. I will be purchasing this book again for my youngest son when he needs it. Awesome book. I also pair it with Word families by remedia publishing and it works even better.

Some good exercises, but seems to go from task and age appropriate lessons to ones that are much easier or much more difficult. We used about half of the overall content and it was useful.

I disliked the fact that I couldn't remove the pages. I did like the fact that assignments were challenging enough for my child while the school is closed down.

I recommend going through each activity in first packet with students who can't read directions--which they probably can't, since this is for people learning to read, right? I bought it used, and it's been both helpful and very positive.

It’s great for my son to learn about word families on his own time.

I bought this book to help my six year old daughter improve her reading skills this year. She loves doing these packets each week. The games are familiar but fun. My daughter likes the repetition of the layout and it has helped her become more confident in her reading.
