I took a chance and bought this although there was no indication as to whether it would work with Linux. But it was plug and play on my Lubuntu computer (so it likely works with other variations of Ubuntu). I chose this microphone over other similar mikes because, unlike the others, it comes with a windscreen. As for how it sounds, testing it against a more expensive microphone I found it about the same, and with less background noise.

Have three of these to use with my door entry video system in a small town Used on desktop PCs to talk to people requesting entry to buildings. Has a manual 'mute' button and a gain-dial to adjust my output. Plug and play, good sound quality.

I have had this microphone for weeks now. My PC using Windows 11 Pro easily recognized it. The base weighs enough to keep it in place. I like the flexibility of the shaft which is long enough to adjust as desired. The foam over the mike helps filter unwanted ambient sounds. The rheostat allows sound adjustment from high to low. There is a Green/Red light to indicate if base switch of mike is active or off. Good buy.

Works fine as a microphone should. I havent had anyone tell me I sound terrible in the few times i used it, so cant testify as to quality. But one nit i have is that the mic will always turn ON when i reboot the PC. I always have to reach over and turn it off. I want it to STAY off, instead of having to do this task every day.

After having two Antlion ModMic USB mics break the same way I bought this mic as a backup until I figured out a new solution for a gaming mic. I use headphones through an external DAC/AMP stack so I don't use a gaming headset. That said, I have always used an integrated mic that is close to my mouth since forever. Wanting to maintain that I bought the ModMic. Unfortunately that unit failed the same way twice for me. One lasted just past 2 years, the other under 1 year. Not wanting to get back into that, I was looking for a new solution. I didn't want the obnoxious boom arm connected to the desk. I wasn't sure what I was going to do. So I used this in the meantime. I was shocked at how good the sound quality was. Background noise did transmit, there's no noise cancellation. So if your use case is sensitive to that, it might not be ideal. But in my case, worst I have is a kid in the background. Not a big deal. But I will be using this $20 solution permanent. I would recommend this to anyone who games and talks to friends on Discord in a heartbeat. Save your money for a better GPU, don't spend it on a mic.

I just purchased another usb microphone as a gift for dear friends. We had such a great experience with the two we purchased for our Zoom meetings. This too, greatly improved their sound quality and especially the omni directional and voice pick up from the sides and direction.. Everyone noticed right away that was listening.

Easy to install, compatible with all software I have and very useful in reading my book notes into word to prepare my manuscript. I’m old, not super tech savvy and even I could make it work! It’s a keeper!

If you work from home, stop using your built-in laptop microphone. People comment all the time how clear I sound compared to other people. It has a physical button with a status light, so you know when it’s on or off—preventing any embarrassing situations. I like to disable my laptop’s microphone, and only allow one like this with a physical on/off button.
