WiFi ~ 600 feet between houses

Kind of hard to setup the first time but work well, I've used these for years and they work well. Lightning has taken out a few but that is not the products fault.

Big value for the price

I needed to create a point to point WiFi bridge through a forest. After many hours of research, skimming product reviews, asking questions, and asking ChatGPT what it thinks, I landed on the Nanostation LocoM2. The product's specs and software configuration seemed to check all my boxes, and the price was really good. Yet I was still skeptical because of a major blocker: I have a fairly thick forest between the source AP unit and the destination station unit. All of this wood & foliage will certainly reduce signal strength. And it did - but not as much as I had expected. When I received the units, I configured the internet source unit in AP mode with Airmax ON. I configured the receiver in Station mode. Both set in the 20mhz channel. To my surprise, at a distance of around 500ft through a thick forest, I was able to achieve nearly 50Mbps, which is more than enough for my purposes (remote gate control + 1-2 cameras).FWIW, the station unit is connected via PoE to an Access Point (Mikrotik RouterBoard hAP AC Lite Tower RB952Ui-5ac2nD-TC) which provides a strong signal in about a 200ft radius in the area.I definitely highly recommend the Ubiquiti Nanostation LocoM5 and the Mikrotik AP for long distance WiFi capabilities.

Programming is not for the faint of heart.

In general, I love Ubiquity products. For most Ubiquity products, programming is not difficult and can easily be done with an app. Programming these is more of a challenge and I do not recommend using the app, especially if you have a lot of devices connected to your network. There are a few special issues. First, you need to assign two unique fixed IP addresses—one for each device. Second, you should find the least crowded frequency for your bridge. I recommend you find the CrossTalk video on programming these. It does a good job explaining most of the issues.

They work well once you get them configured

Other sellers advertised these as being pre-configured, but this particular set were both set as stations and they had the same IP address. The instructions were useless. Thankfully I found a good YT video that gave me the good info. You have to connect to each of them, and give them unique IP addresses on your network, then set one to be the AP and the other to be the Station. After that they worked great between the house and the barn, about 500 feet apart. Good signal despite the obstructions. The AP is inside my attic, too. I used the compass app on my phone to point them at each other. See Crosstalk Solutions video

Zero tech support instructions worthless !

Might as well burn the instructions and go straight to you tube ! This has been a nightmare trying to get It installed , do not buy ,not with the headache , zero tech support, not as easy to install as advertised!the aos web site you need to get on to program the radios is almost impossible to get on, if your not a tech person , do not buy!

Follow the install directions!

Bought this to connect my barn to the house's internet. Took me about a half-day to physically mount and configure. It did not work until I followed the instructions, the first step is to do a 'reset' on the devices. It is providing a wireless bridge between the two buildings. The distance between the two buildings is about 200' unobstructed. Great signal strength, not sure of the actual throughput. I don't like that you cannot hide the 'sid' to outside observers. I'm currently using it to send the video of two IP 4mg security cameras to the house, with plans on adding two more cameras shortly. It's been up about two weeks now, without any outages.

Great for outbuilding. Garage. Or Barn

The programming was over my head but I have a tech buddy that set up my parameters. After adjusting placement I am very pleased. These were set up to support a barn about 200 yards from house and there are trees in the line of site. Fios at house is 100mbps. Ethernet line from the loco was around 90mbps. WiFi in the room is about 70mbps. Lost power 3x in one week for varied amounts of time. They came back on line without issue.
