Very fine little globe
Chose it for its blue ocean and ocean information, which it has very little.Countries are muted pastel colors, not a political map, altho they say theboundaries are up to date. Can just make out major ocean riffs, wrinkles, basins and mouintains, no depths. Oceans are vast, would like more info. The Equator is brightly dashed with the interior light. With the light onthe globe is an even easy to look at glow that is a lighter blue. NOT beigelike the photo shows here. Globe is only 12"d, has plenty of information, but longitude and latitude lines are not numbered or named, like Tropic ofCancer. There are no seams, it's perfectly smooth, except the raised equator.……….Have the Desktop Globe mounted on a GPCT Adjustable TripodSpeaker Stand that comes with a flat "Speaker mount" top, perfect fit forthe globe's round wood stand. Tripod is height adjustable,, as well as thewidth of its legs, so it can have a more compact footprint, all super easy.Looks sturdy and pleasantly professional. Holds globe about 4', whichputs the Equator at about 5 1/2 feet, off the floor and compliments thevery blue Mercator Projection 42x62" World wall decal. Projection makesGreenland look larger than all of South America. Small globe bringsreality into focus. Has more ocean features than the Big map with zero.……….Interior globe light is not bright. Thre's no heat build up I canfeel. And it's said to be LED. Usually means low/no heat and long life.……….Found an extension cord that's hard to believe: GE Pro DesignerCharging Station, Surge Protector Power Strip, 10ft Braided Extension Cord,Flat Plug, 2 Outlets, 2 USB Ports, 2.4A Fast Charge, etc. Globe's short blacklamp cord winds around the tripod pole, plugs into the up-scale extensioncord, where it sits unnoticed on the old blanket chest under the very BLUEwallmap. Flat plug plugs tidy into wall duplex behind the chest, pushed inclose to the mopboard.……….This is my first wallmap/deskglobe installation!! Piece-of-cake. Goodto see where everything is on this planet. Lucked out a real nice setup.5+ stars. All found on Amazon. EbbJust found the paper instruction that came with the globe. BRIEFLY: Gainto the bulb by removing screw from top of globe meridian arm Carefullytilt the glob and lift it off the stand. Bulb will be reveald. E12 typeStandard Clear or LED bulb: "3W LED Bulb or 15W Standard Clear Bulb.Prefered size no ghreater than 2.5" tall x 1.2" wide." That's what it says. They also say that if thje lioght doesn't work when you get the globe, thebulb may have shaken loose in shipment. Where you find the bulb isup to you!

A great globe for the home
I wanted a good quality globe that was up to date with current geopolitical boundaries and didn't really think much of the light up feature. When we got it and plugged it in, I was SO glad we got the lighted version (which was only a few dollars more) as it really is a nice feature and makes it easier to find smaller locations. It does not have raised features but I find the topographic details to be really well done. My 7 year old can easily figure out where the mountains are and it is just a quality piece overall for the price.

Beautiful globe with a few issues
This globe and stand are nicely crafted and quite beautiful when you view them close up. Some of the latitude and longitude lines don't exactly match across seams, but I don't find that an issue. The water is light blue and countries are muted colors, avoiding the garish mixture of colors seen on most globes. Two other pluses are 1) Ocean floor topology is shown for those interested in geology and, 2) there are no pictures of explorers or sailing ships taking up valuable real estate. The minuses are 1) The globe shows the dotted lines for the tropic of Cancer and the arctic circle but not for Capricorn and the antarctic and, 2) the bolt that holds the globe to the base is too long, extending a bit past the base. If not addressed it would cause the globe to rock and could severely scratch table tops. I added felt pads to the bottom to solve the problem. Not quite sure how they could get something like this wrong on such a nice globe.

The base is sturdy and has a classic appeal
Gorgeous globe that is accurate and well made. The base is sturdy and has a classic appeal. We use this weekly for homeschooling and it has held up well. It is detailed and easy to read. A well made product for a good price.

Map came smeared, could be cheaper
Globe is nice and has a good size. But for the price I paid I expected perfect quality. The map was smeared when I opened, and honestly the build does not feel like a hundred dollar item.

Was expecting more for the cost.
First off - this is a okay/good globe. It gives you a good 3 dimensional representation of the world we live on (like any normal globe would). The fit and finish is just okay. It's not bad but there are several areas of improvement that could be addressed, especially for the price. The globe I received appears to be almost a decade old when you consider the map. A perfect example of this would be the peninsula of Crimea which was annexed by Russia in 2014 - on the globe that I received that change of land ownership is not reflected. Either I received an older version of the globe (which is problematic considering I purchased this new) or the creator of the globe map has the same "not my president" mental illness that has so negatively impacted our society relatively recently.
