Drill AmericaDWDRSD1-1/8 1-1/8" Reduced Shank High Speed Steel Drill Bit with 1/2" Shank, DWDRSD Series

Received the 3/4" drill bit today, I needed it to drill two holes in1/4" thick flat stock and with some spray lube it worked well. It was shipped fast.

Its a drill bit. It makes holes. This one worked well on both copper and aluminum plates and bars.

If you need a size that doesn’t come in your standard kit, this is a nice addition.

I attempted to drill into a 3/4 inch carbon steel plate that was not hardened or specially alloyed. The bit got dull after drilling halfway. I now use this bit after sharpening on the grinder to enlarge holes in 1/2 inch black pipe fittings for some of my projects.It may as well drill into metal plate after sharpening but I have not attempted it.

This product is affordable and is advertised as working well with wood. However, when using it to bore through a 3" wood blank on my lathe, it was not a pleasant experience. The wood was Orange Osage and relatively soft. The speed setting was low like I normally use when drilling. When using this drill bit, the entire machine began shaking and the strain on wood versus the bit was incredibly loud. I ended up just tossing this bit in the trash. It is not worth enough to go through a return process. I'm off to the hardware store to invest in something actually meant for wood use.

Broke plastic pipe I was working with. But was able to repair with plastic glue.

Really good bit and sharp too

Good bit that cut through a block of aluminum, to mount some handle bars.

It’s very useful and good quality

I only needed this (13/16” bit) to enlarge a couple of 1/2” holes in some aluminum blocks, for that job it worked perfectly well.
