Decent clamp meter
This is a pretty comprehensive claps meter for a really cheap price and runs off of 3 x AAA batteries. This meter has many features as well as quality of life ones such as a backlit screen and a torch.Testing the clap meter where I fell into the trap of many others thinking it wasn't working when I tried testing. For those not aware this only work on AC and only on the live or neutral cables which you will find near your electric meter and or fuse board. This does not work with cables that contain both the live and neutral. I really wish these clap would read DC as it would have been great use when working on my car.The multimeter works great and its use case is identical to any other multimeter. The one advantage is this has an auto setting. Personally I'm not a fan of "auto" settings but for those with little experience using such meters or just don't know what setting to use like my parents this is great for the more casual user.I was surprised to see a this meter comes with a thermocouple to measure temperature. Probably not something that most will use but can be useful for task such and monitoring the flow and return temps on your radiators to help balance your heating system. Or checking the efficiency of the A/C system in your car or house.Overall I think this is a good meter although it feels very prosumer. If you are looking for a clamp meter it might be worth looking for one that does DC as well as AC. If you only want to use the multimeter probes then there are cheaper ones that do just that.

TESMEN TCM-300A Digital Clamp Meter
A brilliant and comprehensive little meter packed full of features in a compact package at a great price.Personally I use this in an amateur rather than professional capacity. This meter covers most needs but it does lack the ability to measure DC current.A great additional feature is the thermocouple to measure temperature. This could come in handy to measure the efficiency of your Air conditioner or to check your radiators return temperatures.Overall a great tool to have in your toolbox!

Surprisingly good For The Most Part
This is the second Tesmen multimeter I have now and for the most part, I'm very impressed. There's the same auto mode/auto ranging facility with an easy to read screen. It comes well packaged with a decent manual, a good quality pair of leads and this one has a thermocouple for reading temperatures as well. This time there's no rubbery armoured case but you do still get the nice little pouch to keep it all in.It has all the usual modes including non contact voltage and live wire testing and again has a torch on the which, while it's an improvement over the first multimeter, is actually blocked by the current clamp so again, don't rely on it. The big difference between this and the other multimeter is that this one has clamps for measuring current. This makes life a lot easier as it means you can measure current without having to disconnect anything. The only slight disappointment with this one is that it only starts to read from half an amp upwards meaning that for the sort of stuff I do these days, I probably wont get a lot of use out of that function. It would be nice to have seen that a lot more sensitive, especially on a small multimeter like this one, but then I guess that would start to push the price up.Having had a bit of a play with it, the modes switch and auto range just the way they should and you also have the option to manually select modes as well.As I said, this is the second Tesmen multimeter I now have and they are both great to use and feel durable and just as good as some of the much more expensive multimeters I have used in the past.Over all, a nice little meter ideal for the home user and good enough for a lot of pros as well

Very good value, even if you don't need the clamp.
I note that quite a few reviews mention that the clamp ammeter either didn't work or worked okay when used on the mains lead of a few devices around the house. However, the testers obviously don't know that this type of ammeter does not measure AC current in a two or three core mains cable; it only works when wrapped around a single conductor like the live 'tail' on your electricity meter. As such, it is not really intended for domestic DIY use and there are more suitable plug-in devices that will measure the power consumption of a kettle or heater etc. That said, I tried it on one of the mains tails and it compared very well with my professional clamp meter. My only minor niggle with this high spec, well-made meter, is the lack of a DC current facility. This would make it a really good all-rounder for most DIY jobs that need a general purpose multimeter rather than a clamp ammeter. All the other facilities work fairly well and the temperature probe is a welcome addition for lots of jobs such as checking the thermostat on a domestic hot water cylinder or making sure that the radiators are not too hot in a child's bedroom.Replaceable alkaline batteries are essential in a tool like this; you know you can always fit new spares and rely on the meter being operational in a few seconds. Rechargeable batteries could let you down when you need the meter in an emergency. The Tesmen TCM-300A is very good value, even if you don't need the amp clamp.
