This makes the BEST dill pickles I've ever had!
I make these pickles a jar or two at a time, enough that I can keep them in the fridge and not have to heat can them for shelf storage - it lasts me a long time. They never go bad in the fridge. With this pickle mix, and some vinegar and garlic, makes the easiest and tastiest pickles I've ever had! I prefer spears, so I typically buy smallish pickling cukes, cut off the stem end (a necessary part of the procedure for reasons), and then quarter them (or smaller) into spears. Pour the liquid over them, add a lid, put them in the fridge. They say wait 3 weeks for them to pickle before enjoying, but I've had one within hours of pickling and it was DELICIOUS.Since I've started making pickles this way, I've stopped buying pickles. And my friends all agree, they're the best dill pickles they've ever had!

Great pickle taste.
Been growing and pickling my own pickles for years. I have used Ball Kosher Dill Pickle mix for all but one year. Of course this is just a matter of taste, but I tried Mrs. Wages once and I just didn't like the taste. Unfortunately, it seems Wages is the only brand stores carry around here. The Ball pickle mix just seems to have that classic pickle taste. For me, I will stick to the Ball taste and recommend it. Clearly a different in taste between the two brands, so I would recommend trying both at least once to get the taste you like best.

liked flavor & great product but have to work with it being hard as a rock
I am an experienced canner, I wanted this mix because I like & use Ball products & because I wanted to do smaller batches of pickles at a time & this flex batch mix is great for that! Although the cap & inner seal on the container were not broken the bottle was "sucked in" or miss shaped & the contents were hard as a rock so you could not pour them into a measuring cup or even get it out of the container. I saw one review of this & the person said they threw it away but I really wanted to use it so I chipped it into chunks with a dull butter knife and dumped it into a cooking pot & mashed it with my potato masher until it was useable again & poured it back into the container. Also one review said it was too salty so I added 1 teaspoon of sugar to each batch with 1/4 cup of mix just incase so I wouldn't waste all my efforts and money. Also there are no directions on the container so I googled how to use Ball Flex Batch Pickle Mix and found the correct instructions of 1/4 cup mix & 1 cup white vinegar & 2 cups water for 2 quart jars of cucumbers. It 's generally standard procedure from there for water bath processing. I eventually used the whole container and enough time had passed so I opened a jar & tried the pickles & I really liked them so I ordered one more container of the mix & it arrived today & again both seals are not broken but the container is all "sucked in" & the mix is hard as a rock so I just repeated what I did last time by chunking it with a dull butter knife & dumping it into a pot & when I had it all in the pot I used my potato masher to make it useable and pourable & put it back in the container. I know it's a an extra step to be able to use it so I left off 1 star for that & no directions on the container but I still gave it 4 stars because it does taste & work great & all the other mixes I have found require many more cucumbers at a time than my raised bed garden produces so I don't want to waste all that extra mix or the money needed to make it. So overall I do recommend this mix. I'm in a very rural area & there are not a lot of options to buy on the store shelves & they are a long drive so ordering this from Amazon works out great for me. I hope this information is helpful.
