First thing first: Adjust the pump to about 50% (mid way between + & - on the pump itself), arrange the stones in a way that will curtail the splashing. There are virtually no splashing at lower pump settings. The light has its own cables and switch. You'll need two space on your plug - one for the light and one for the pump. The fountain also has a natural waterfall sound as it falls on the rocks. Quite nice. Once properly immersed into water, you do not hear the pump (the pump must be fully covered with water at all times).

UPDATE: Aside from the initially broken parts, fountain is still going strong 2 years later. Added back 2 stars for at least working for a decent length of timeOverall like the fountain, but took off a star for each part that was broken. Will update if I hear back from the seller with replacement parts. It is quite a bit more green in color than the pictures, but I didn't mind that. What I did mind was how much it's splashes. It splashes less with less water, but then the pump is way too loud. This would work well as an outdoor fountain, the sound is pretty nice but you can still hear the pump no matter how much water is in it. Plan for water to splash in all directions wherever you put it. The light looked pretty also, but is kinda annoying that it requires two plugs if you want the light. Others complained about assembly but I found it easy enough.

This fountain was delivered to me ready for the trash.The good, I loved the look of the fountain though it’s mostly resin with very little slate at the base only. A very pretty and relaxing water flow sound.The bad, I unfortunately am returning this item as it is cracked and fractured at the top on both sides and leaking on one of those sides. This is not something you could fix with a little cement. The water only releases from one side of the fountain (yes, I checked it was not clogged). Lastly, the pump was struggling and became louder than the water flow. I hope to find another similar one but without all the problems. I likely won’t buy this brand again though.

The media could not be loaded. Beautiful, lovely sound, solid construction, easy to put together - make sure you keep the little metal piece to run along the layers of stone to divert the water properly to stop the splashing. I placed the fountain with plants around it’s base, in a copper plated boot tray - pretty display and no water spot worry on the furniture.

The description and pictures do NOT represent the product. The only slate on this product are the slats that create the waterfall, and those are so poorly installed into the resin that makes up the rest of the unit that the water doesn't cascade smoothly and the light doesn't illuminate all of the slats. The pump does not fit in the base. The hoses do not fit through the cut outs. The hose was kinked and the plastic cover at one end had disintegrated. The unit is not level on any axis. None of the parts fit together well. I thought it had to be a fluke so I got a replacement. It was even worse. That being said my wife loves the overall look and sound so I fixed all of the deficiencies myself. I contacted Amazon to get a discount. They promised that they would give me a discount and get back to me, but I have yet to hear from Amazon. As a long time Prime member I am very disappointed.This unit it overpriced at half the cost. Run, do not walk, away.

I did a lot of research before I bought this fountain. I'm quite happy with it, but... it's very important for the water distribution for the middle piece (the actual fall) to sit even or the water doesn't come out right and the base surface isn't even! So we had to prop something in there to make it even. It was also difficult to situate the filter just right so that the middle piece would sit right. A lot of messing around with set up but once that's done, it has the most pleasant water sound, gentle and relaxing. It fits in with any style. Our home is Coastal Craftsmen and it works beautifully. In the evening, the light feature turns it into a focal point of any room.

Fountain arrived and the box had been damaged in shipping. Top part did not sit straight on the bottom no matter how I tried to adjust it. This causes excessive splashing onto furniture, etc. Not worth the price.
