Great kit, but mechanical issues
Electronics works great. However, a few minor issues take away from the full experience. For example, . The nylon standoffs to that go between the shield and chassis won't fit in one of the corners; had to be filed flat on two sides make it fit. . Chassis where the servos and wheels connect was not completely perpendicular. Had to be manually twited/aligned. . Lower quality servo motors that make a lot of noise. Also, one motor had extra friction compared to other.Apart from above problems, overall, the kit is working out as a great initiation for my son to dabble into robotics. Endless fun! I would recommend investing in a higher quality servos (e.g. http://www.amazon.com/RioRand-MG995-Metal-Speed-Torque/dp/B00M8TXSBO/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1414539118&sr=1-2&keywords=servo+motor+metal+gears).

Easy to assemble and program, good instructions
This was my first project after going through the practice projects in the official Arduino starter kit, and it was really simple to put together. I had the physical parts assembled in a couple of hours, and was loading programs into it the same day it arrived. There are great instructions and demo programs included online (the link is included in the box), so as long as you have internet access you shouldn't have any trouble with this. The hardware has held up well and I look forward to expanding it with custom components.

Missing parts.
I had high hopes for this kit. However once opened, I am missing a considerable amount of parts. Missing nylon standoffs, pan head screw, etc... It is as if a bag of parts wasn't provided. We'll just have to make due and rig things together. Really disappointed.

This was a birthday gift for my son
He has been able to build his robot and is finding it a lot of fun, both in the constructing and using.

Its ok. I got mine from a robotics class. The sensors work but are not as precise as I hoped, but I still had lots of fun. I modded my shield bot into a monster.
