The description said Used-Very Good. This board book was not. The front and back covers were very dirty and had small tears and dents in the covers. This was a gift for my granddaughter, and I was embarrassed to see it as she opened it. I buy used books frequently and this was only Acceptable or Good, as the inside pages were OK, but obviously used often.

The Carl picture books allow a child's imagination to take over a story. Storytelling abilities are enhanced by these books. My granddaughter loves to play with dolls and speak their stories as she plays with them. So these books provide the stories in pictures and she can make her stories follow the pictures but she is not limited by the pictures. Her imagination talks flight. And what child doesn't enjoy books and stories that features a dog? These books are great!

My 3 children loved this book. There are few words, so the parent/story teller makes up the story based on the antics of Carl. So sweet. You can update the story and add more details as the child grows older. Just a charming book and illustrations.

This is yet another gem in a long, wonderful line of mostly wordless books about a faithful rottweiler tasked with minding his owner's precocious baby girl. Alexandra Day's stories exude her own affection for rottweilers, no doubt convincing many readers that this breed of dog is not necessarily ferocious or bloodthirsty. All ages should appreciate the beautiful yet accessible oil paintings Day uses to illustrate Carl's adventures.

This is a timeless treasure. My daughter has loved these books for a couple of years! I love listening to her tell the story. As a teacher, I love this book for toddlers and for elementary aged kids because it can help build inferring skills.

Our first experience with the Carl books. My 3.5 month old loved it. There are so few words so I pointed out each picture, explained what they are doing, maybe exaggerated a bit and my boy just laughed and laughed. The artwork is just perfect and we are definitely going to be a Carl family.
