Portland Jamaican Seasoning 300g

For me my annual trip to Jamaica is never complete without a trip or few to the local Jerk center. The smokey aroma from the burning pimento wood adding the edge to the spicy seasoned meat and fish. After my kids finally decided that hey mama is correct this food is great we finally decided to try to make Jerk chicken at home ourselves. I've tried the pastes etc before and was not overly impressed but decided to give this mix a try.You are not going to replicate a truly authentic taste without the pimento bbq but this mix really really tries hard to. More flavour than heat the taste is divine and it isn't too salty which is what most mixes suffer from. Used as a base for your meat preparation you will have meat which really is finger licking good.I followed the instructions to use 2 tbsp per 1lb of meat and added a good dash more for good measure and marinated my chicken with some lime juice, an onion, some chopped garlic and some chopped spring onion. I added a chopped scotch bonnet for extra heat and left to marinate overnight. I then precooked in the oven for 15 minutes before adding to the BBQ for a little smokey flavour.The result was so good that there was no chance of left overs.I am now finding new ways that I can add a little more jerk flavour in my life and it has gone into pasta, rice and peas, and sprinkled on roasted veg.Highly recommended

A taste of home, I love this seasoning

I'm a Jamaican living in abroad and the ingredients are all spot on, as well as the taste. The flavour brings me home.It's perfect for absolutely anything:Soups, stews or even a simple marinade.Great with chicken and lamb and even for vegetarian dishes.I feel the value is great since you get all the authentic ingredients.Gosh! I'm so happy with this purchase and I recommend it to anyone who wants an authentic jamaican jerk seasoning.It even has our local Scotch Bonnet pepper and pimento.Also the salt is very low so you have more control over your salt ratio.

Really nice and easy to work with

Great spices for jerk bbq, not overly spicy (depends on the quantity you add). I have marinated chicken wings with this seasoning and received compliments.

Man I love this so much! It is a bit pricey but worth it....so delicious I have tried it with fish, chicken, lamb & pork.. The flavours rich and aromatic with a lovely Jerk heat... I recommend this product 100% please don’t hesitate it will be an explosion of loveliness!!
