Allows equipment with SCART or phono outputs to plug in to a TV or aerial socket Direct channel selection Wideband - TV channels 21 to 69 Aerial loop-through SCART and phono inputs No loss in quality! Ideal for DVDs, digital TV boxes and CCTV cameras without RF/aerial sockets and for TVs without a Scart socket Mains powered Tough metal housing This easy set-up SLx RF Modulator allows the signal from a VCR / DVD player, camcorder, CCTV camera or other device with an AV only output to be viewed on an ordinary TV without a SCART or Phono input. Alternatively it can be used where a TV has only one SCART socket and if you wish, to view two SCART equipped devices. Please note, there are no fixing included If your TV does not have a SCART socket then this is for you. Connect any composite video device, such as a CCTV camera or camcorder to the aerial socket of a TV. This versatile modulator allows you to select the RF channel with simple DIP switches. Composite video and stereo audio inputs are via phono (RCA) sockets or the SCART socket. An RF input is provided as well as an output, allowing loop-through connection, so that the output of this modulator can be added into an existing aerial distribution network. The full range of available channels means that multiple modulators can be ‘daisy-chained’ and also avoids conflict with existing broadcast channels (including Channel 5) and other domestic equipment (VCR, Sky, DVD etc). An additional ‘brightness’ control allows the video input level to be adjusted. This modulator is mains-powered and housed in a sturdy metal case.

RF distribution problem solved
After getting a new Virgin Media cable box I found I was unable to use it with my existing RF cable distribution system around my house because it didn't have an RF output, only Scart and HDMI. I first tried an AV sender system from a local supplier but this went back after a couple of hours because it was very poor. I found this unit on the Maplin website and then found it was an even better deal with Amazon so I thought I'd give it a try. I'm well pleased with the results, although don't expect a perfect picture on a large screen remote located TV. On a smaller TV in a bedroom or kitchen location I will say the picture and sound is plenty good enough. The instructions with the unit could be a bit better but as long as you pick a frequency that is not close to existing channels then it's fine. Be aware that the unit does not link through the Scart connection and there is no leads with the device. So if you've no spare Scart output you will need to double up. The RF does link through so the Media box output just becomes another channel on the remote TV's.
