Universal Heater Hose Engine Block Warmer - Cast Aluminum Housing
This hard to find housing option was just the trick when I needed to replace an older leaking unit. All the other water heaters have what seems to be a sturdy steel shell with end caps for a design, but they collapse if you move your heater hose lines for any reason, after a season or two. This cast aluminum casing can take the abuse of an old truck engine, and it's much better for the clamping mechanism, since over-tightening isn't an issue. My only complaint is that the 120V power supply cord is as short as the picture shows, requiring a dedicated heavy duty extension cord in order to plug in the unit without opening the hood.

I installed this on my 2009 Isuzu NRR rollback and I'm somewhat satisfied. It installed easily in the heater hose line. However I only gave it 3 stars because it doesn't perform too well on the coldest of days. It'll recirculate a small amount of water and keep the motor warm but it's usually not enough to get the temp gauge to move. It'll provide a small burst of heat in the cab but it slowly dissipates once the truck is running. I guess it's better than no block heater/water recirulator at all.

It doesn't circulate
Very disappointed - If you are purchasing this heater expecting it to "circulate" coolant while it is heating like I did it you are as wrong as I am. There is no circulation pump, it does not circulate any coolant on it's own. It heats up what is in the reservoir and that is it, I fully expect this unit to burn up in short order like the last one did. The cord is only about 12" long but I expected that as I can see that in the picture but when it says "Circulation Engine Heater" I did expect it to circulate. :(

Doesn't work!
Installed as directed by the manufactures instructions by a certified mechanic on an 85 Chevy pickup. The pump gets really hot but doesn't actually move any fluid. I'm attempting to get a refund at this point.

Works great
Warms up my little tractor. Replaced a similar one that was throwing the breaker due to a short. This one works as good as the old one.

Work But Not super polished
Update: After using this during the winter I discovered an issue. The inlet and outlet are 5/8 while the heater core hose on my truck has a 3/4" inside diameter. Using a couple of hose clamps I thought I was able to get a good enough seal but when it's very cold out I've noticed a smell of antifreeze around my truck and my revivor is letting lower. From what I can tell the inlet and outlet are too small to seal properly on the heater core hose for my truck. I plan to modify the housing and replace the inlet and outlets with 3/4" fittings. Also, putting a meter on the heater showed about 950watts of consumption, close to the 1000 but not quiteThis review is after about a week of it being installed in my halftone truck. I installed it to help my truck heat up faster in the winter because I can only run mine for 20 min. from the button and that isn't enough to blow warm air on the super cold days. I didn't want this powered the entire time my trucks plugged in so I wired in a relay so it will only get power while my truck is running. I installed it onto the inlet hose for the heater core. The install went as you'd expect for a universal product, it worked but I had to make it work. I removed the one way check valve ball for better flow and since the hose didn't have a check valve I don't see a need for it. I also opened up the inlet and outlet ports with a drill bit for better flow as well since the ball was gone it wouldn't need the little fins cast in them to stop the ball from getting out.The ports on it aren't barbed other than the one flare on the ends so the clamps must be very tight to ensure no leaks (mine leaked at the join on the bottom the first time I turned the truck on). I used a #27 pinch hose clamp instead of the included worm gear ones. I'd suggest picking up some T-bolt hose clamps as they should work very well, hold tight and not strip easy like the style included and they'll be easily removable unlike the pinch ones I used.Use cation when removing the electrical connector from the top, the first time I did the temperature sensor broke and had to get a replacement. The cord is very short, maybe a foot and a half if that, wish it was longer. All that said I'm happy with how it work, for warm up from 80-110F it took my engine just over 2.5 minwith the heater on and the truck running it took less than half the time so I'm hoping it'll work well in the cold. I'll update this review if anything else needs to be said

Works like it should
We had been using the 750W version of this block heater on a Nissan Deisel Generator for a highrise building. The 750W version was not keeping up during the coldest times of the Canadian winter here is Saskatchewan. Installed the 1500W version and immediately saw a difference in the engine temperature. However with the extreme cold of -31C with a wind chill that drops temperatures to -45C the 1500W block heater is still keeping the engine temp at around 135F. This not an ideal engine temp for the application but is acceptable. We do not expect any issues with starting the generator during these extreme cold conditions.

Works
For the price why wouldn't it have a small circulation pump like a diesel heater?
