My daughter (reception, aged 4.5) brought "Big Pig on a dig" home in her book bag and was very keen to read some of the other stories from the series that aren't at school (helpfully advertised on the inside page of the book!). This collection is excellent value, although a little heavy for my daughter to take to school and show off as she was desperate to this morning, and has done so nevertheless. Twelve stories featuring both long and short vowel sounds, with some tricky words chucked in but not so many that it is too much of a struggle, will last a long time. We haven't listened to the CD yet (I have asked her to read each story to me herself first), but will add to this review when we do. Would highly recommend!

Just received this book and felt I had to write about it as it was such good value for £7. It has 194 pages and 12 phonics stories which are brilliant for preschool children and early years. Bought it for grandson who will use it for many years and in time will be able to read it to his little brother!👴

Bought as ab early reader for my 4 year old granddaughter. Nicely illustrated with good text and story line. She loves it.

The book is good with a nice easy for kids to read along/guess along with. We have two little ones who enjoy all of the stories and love to find the ducks hidden in the pictures.Couple of annoyances though. The ducks aren't distributed on a 'one per page' basis, but 'one per picture'. Our boys have decided that they take one page each and find the ducks, and it means they are disappointed when there isn't one on their page, because some pages a picture spans both. The other is that the flaps can get a bit out of whack if read a bit to enthusiastically. There are quite a few and going through the book to straighten them up is a pain.Would recommend though.

I bought this for my 3GS old son as he has started to show an interest in letters/words etc. Book is really nice with nice shirt stories and my Son has instantly taken to this book and asks for it every night, his particular favourite is Fox on a box and Frog on a log. The book also comes with a cd which we have enjoyed listening to in the car, overall I think this product is good value for money and worth a buy

I already had a couple of the individual stories and so looked into buying the others in the set but it was more value for money to purchase this book containing them all together. The pre-school children love these stories and they are learning while having fun so they get my vote! The illiustrations are beautiful too, and searching for the little duck on every page is always exciting for the little ones.Definitelly would recommend this to anyone with pre-school children.

I understand the other critics, but I do believe that this book is really good for young ones and early readers! My 5 year old son loves practicing and remembering the words. And what a good value! 12 stories and a CD in a book!Do not buy Frog on the Log and other stories with this book as they are the same stories (just 6 of the them tho!)

Comme souvent en achetant Usborne, on n'est pas déçu. Nettement supérieur à bon nombre d'ouvrages d'autres éditions à des prix similaires. De beaux livres avec de vraies illustrations, des textes adaptés pour les petits, un CD avec les textes lus plutôt lentement permettant 'de faire un peu l'oreille' aux sons de l'anglais, un très bon achat à faire sans hésiter

Mia figlia di 2 anni e mezzo adora alcune storie. Non le abbiamo ancora lette tutte ma direi che è stato un successo. Il gioco di rime aiuta la memorizzazione di parole nuove.

This is a fantastic collection of stories for children learning to read phonetically and very hard to find in this format. The library collecting of these is VERY pricey and I was thrilled to find them in this compact, and much less expensive format. It comes with the stories on CD, and has many fold-out pages. This is a high quality book and well worth the $30 price I paid for it. I am VERY picky when it comes to reading material for children emerging/early readers because there is so much out there that totally inappropriate and useless. These stories ARE PHONETIC and gradually introduce phonograms with lots of repetition of phonograms in one story for practice. Great purchase.

We purchased this book to support our emergent reader. I like that all the books are combined into one large book (you can buy each story separately). The stories use helpful techniques like repetition and rhyme to assist new readers. My only complaint might be the font of the stories. It's very thin and I've found my daughter reads much better with bold, thick font that doesn't curl certain letters (like "t'). I'm sure as time passes she will get used to it, but because her first impression of the book seems to have been that she can't read it as quickly as other books I find she's not as willing to read it as others.

Die Lieferung hat sich zwar um einige Zeit verzögert, ich habe sehr lange auf das Buch warten müssen!Allerdings hat sich das im Endeffekt dann gelohnt!Es beinhaltet tolle kindgerechte Bilder und eignet sich wie ich finde perfekt um mit Grundschulkindern (oder auch Erwachsenen) die Englische Phonetik zu üben! :-)
