Very simple test to do (not suitable for haemophiliacs or those on anticoagulant medication)
Decided I wanted to know rather than just assume my parents were right, so watched a few YT video's, seemed easy enough I though, ordered the kid, checked the kit when it arrived, read the instructions (NB:-Watch what instruction number you read, they are badly laid out in revision 2017-02-02, eg. below step 5 is step 7, below that and to the left is step 6, so be careful, it was only because of watching videos that I knew the order was messed up, other than that the pictures are very clear). Set everything out as hygienically and logical as possible, washed & dried my hands, prepared the test card with water as instructed, wiped & air dried my left middle finger (i'm right handed, it seemed easier), used the 'pricker', caught a drop on one stick, applied to first circle, left the stick in the circle, used a new stick for second circle, new stick for third, new stick for fourth etc. Used the cotton ball to stop me bleeding, spent ten seconds mixing the first circle with the first stick, removed the stick to one side, another ten seconds mixing the second circle with the second stick then removed that stick, then third, then fourth etc. Held card upright for ten seconds (any excess fluid will drain at this point), then upside down for ten second, then to the left for ten, then to the right for ten, then laid it flat, checked the chart and woohoo!... My result!... O RHd Positive... Very simple to do, now my son wants to test his blood type, as does my pharmacist, it's almost addictive!... :-D

The lancet
The lancet was not working at all, I think it had broken off before engaging the finger. I can’t not do my test. Not good

Easy to use but I recommend following the instruction
I've been trying to find out what my blood group is for many years and, despite asking my GP, having many blood tests and even an op requiring a blood transfusion, I've never been able to get an answer. I ordered this kit which arrived the next day. I made sure that everything in he kit was set out in preparation for the test and I got my wide to assist. I was probably a bit over careful in the preparation but I was determined to get the test right. The "scariest" bit of the whole process is using the lancet to prick your finger. I wasn't looking forward to it but it turned out to be fairly painless. Once pricked we followed the instructions to the letter avoiding cross contamination of the patches and, within virtually no time at all, I had a very definite result which was easily cross referenced with the chart provide and in my case left absolutely no ambiguity. My initial worries about messing the test were unfounded but I would recommend becoming familiar with and following the instructions. For the relatively low price I now finally know my blood type after years of asking.

Great! Quick, easy, painless!
Great! Whilst I cannot confirm if the test is correct or not as I was told I would need to pay over £50 to be tested by my GP or give blood to a bloodbank (which I cannot due to health problems) the test told my one type.It was VERY easy to conduct so not sure why others had problems, they most likely did not read it properly or are not used to handling small equipment, it is fiddly work and you do need to be fast but I would not say its difficult.I have fainted many times when having blood taken and even finger prick tests, so I would suggest either getting someone else to collect the blood OR as I did do it on a different area that will not make you faint, I used my ear lobe, it was so painless I didn't think it had worked but alot of blood came out. I laminated(not heated but with the ready rolled papers) my results after for hygiene and longer preservation. I may do the test again in the future to see if I get the same results. The diet however im not sure how much its helped as im still having a lot of symptoms, im awaiting allergy/intolerence tests to see if that is the issue.

Surprisingly fun to do with a friend.
This is a lot of fun, I bought two because I knew the other half would start trying to get involved in mine once he saw it, but was actually glad I did because I couldn't bring myself to spike my finger so he did it for me ( a bit TOO enthusiastically if you ask me) It was interesting watching the test happen and we found out that we are the same blood group. We're both educators and agreed this would be a really fun thing to do with older kids and would probably mean they NEVER forget their blood group. Well worth the money, a thoroughly entertaining ten minutes.

Easy to use but Lancet's might not draw enough blood for some people.
The cons pertains to my own circumstances. I couldn't draw enough blood with both lancets to complete the test. Though in general its taken multiple times in the past for a nurse to able to find a vein to withdraw blood from to begin with. To be fair kit was very easy to understand and use. There is even YouTube video demonstration.I might buy another pack and try again in the future.

The rest of the family will probably want one
I brought this as I couldn't remember if I was A or A- (it covers all popular groups)This confirmed it for me.I watched the u-tube clip, to make sure, but the instructions in the pack are pretty good. I found this easy to use, with quick results.I then had to buy another for a family member, so I suggest taking advantage of the multi buy, because if your other half isn't interested your kids and other family will be.
