Yes, it's what I would use. Dries rock hard - can be sanded and blended in..... dries very quickly so be prepared

Hi Gary, Well i never painted over Antiques But to answer Mohawk is a stain comes in a multitude of colors so yes you can use poly or lacquer . The stain is very easy to work with much better than oil based stain.can finish in 2 or 3 hrs not 2 day's. I did use some poly but opted for lacquer because of clarity in finish . Poly is plastic . You should be fine. I purchased a fine mirror with a fancy black wood frame at a big discount because it had been dropped and the edge was crunched. I followed the fil-stik instructions precisely. Now when I ask visitors to tell me which edge was repaired they can only do it if I take it off the wall and let them study it. Even then they have to look very closely. Otherwise, it is unnoticeable. Getting the closest color match would be important.

Wonderful putty that dries rock-hard

Great product...fast drying and sandal. Can be used under any topcoat. No mushy putty. Dries hard.

It mixes easily and the color options are great. Would be fine for filling large gashes to mix and fill, but when needing to form more sculptural applications it sets up extremely fast. I use predominantlyMohawk products and am a professional restoration conservator., so I know how to work with materials.
