Overly difficult to use.
I would not buy these again. They really missed the mark when it comes to application. Each butterfly needs its own peel off paper--my fingers were a sticky mess just trying to separate one of these from the stack and I had not even attempted inserting them in dirt yet! I don't understand why the triangle and stem that you push in the dirt are so flimsy--it needs to be rigid so the butterfly doesn't flop over and you have a solid area to grasp and push down. Just trying to secure it in the dirt so it could stand on its own kicked up so much soil that ended up stuck on it I lost most of the surface area of stickiness and it looks bad right off the bat. I will say they are very sticky and nothing is breaking free from this trap. This product could be so much better if they just made a few user friendly changes.

Very effective for fungus gnats
I keep a lot of tropical houseplants and experienced a fungus gnat outbreak. I don't know about you all, but those little gnats drive me absolutely nuts. I prefer to use traps rather than spraying my plants, and these performed very well. I placed one in each group of plants, and 10 days later I am seeing very, very few gnats anymore. The reason I'm giving these traps 4 stars instead of 5, is that they are fairly ugly and, more importantly, difficult to keep from sticking to plants that are very full and bushy. I would prefer a design that places the sticky yellow trap portion t on a long wooden dowel, rather than having to put a large triangle into the soil. Still, they got the job done and I can't complain about that!

Pretty good product
This year, for the first time in 15 years, Leaf Miners practically destroyed my lillies. I bought these to catch the adults that lay eggs on the plant to eat through it. I also just got a mini rose that was overtaken by aphids. These were a little difficult to put in the soil because their "post" is so flimsy. I got a bunch of them stuck to my hands. Overnight these collected a bunch of bugs (I can't tell if they are Leaf Miners or just gnats). I have noticed some slow down on the trails through leaves but this could be because I cut off all affected leaves and put down a poison. The rose has continued to get worse (it may have already been too late for it). These are cuter than just the plain yellow sticky sheets, but the price is a little high. I think $10 for 20 would be more than fair. I'm going to use the rest of the ones I have, but probably will reorder cheaper ones.

It works, just not as expected
First it was hard to remove the trap. They're packed and stacked to each other, so wear a glove if you don't want your hands sticky afterwards. Easy to peel off from one another but it is annoying trying to be creative to remove one w/out getting the goo on your fingers. Second it was flimsy and doesn't hold tall on it's own. Best is to really dig into the dirt and cover up most of the base so that it will withstand wind/rain. In the end, it does work. It does look better than any normal fly trap.

Safe around children and so easy to use!
Received these today and am pleasantly surprised as to how well they work. Reading the other reviews, I decided to use plastic, disposable gloves (you can get them at walmart for less than a buck for a pair of 25, more or less) to seperate the butterflies. Now, the first one on the sheet I left there (since it is stuck to the plastic cover, but the rest were easily removed from the "stem" of the butterfly. They have only been out for like 2 hours and I have a few butterflies with at least 5 gnats on them. The best part is that they're non-toxic. I have two small children and even if they were warned about "sticky fingers" if they touched the butterflies, at least I know it's something I won't have to call the poison control about. Really happy with this purchase, and even my children said that the butterflies "made it look like spring" especially in yellow.

Works as expected!
Works as expected. Caught many fungus gnats. Though I also used the H2O2 + soap + apple cider vinegar + water mixtures. They're not completely gone yet but they have significantly decreased. Now when I'm sitting at my desk I might have one fly by every few hours rather than several at a time. Also, in case anyone was wondering... This does not work on normal house flies. I tried to swat one with it and it didn't stick. But works excellent for the small bugs.

What a gret solution for getting rid of fungus flys!
This is the most fabulous product ever! I purchased two plants for my bathroom, upon getting them potted, I discovered that there was a horrible infestation of fungus flys. I got these fly traps and with almost within 24 hours the pests were G-O-N-E!!! I had thought that I was going to have to throw out the plants These are really a great solution to this problem. You just stick the fly trap down in the soil, and the critters are immediately attracted to it. I also felt that the price was very reasonable.

These worked really well. My only suggestions are use ...
These worked really well. My only suggestions are use disposable gloves to keep the tacky off your fingers and dig a bit in the soil before trying to insert them in the soil. The plastic is quite flexible and in trying to get it in the soil I ended up with soil bits all over the bottom of the butterfly. Other than that the gnats are finally getting to a point that they are under control thanks to these. It was the only thing that worked.
