What are these cultured on?

I don't know the answer; however, this is the only company I've found (on Amazon; or) anywhere, that claims the highest quality of Cordyceps compared to any other... using only the fruiting bodies & not just "mycelium." That's why I prefer it until I learn more. THANKS!!

Does anyone know why they put 3% starch in this powder?...and what kind of starch is it?

Thank you for your question! There is no added starch, it is the alpha glucan content inherent to structure of the Cordyceps militaris fruiting bodies. We list it in order to differentiate between the alpha-glucans and beta-glucans. Most mushroom vendors list the "polysaccharide" content of their product. This is inflated because the "mushroom" extract is not just made from fruiting bodies but is mostly the growth medium on which the mushrooms are grown. These are made from grains and thus have a very high polysaccharide content but it is mostly starch (alpha glucans) and not the beneficial beta-glucans found in the actual mushroom fruiting bodies. All of our mushroom extracts are made only from mushroom fruiting bodies and include no extra grains or fillers of any kind whatsoever.

Where are the mushrooms in this extract sourced from. Are they from China or not?

They company claims to source their products from Nammex (aka North American Reishi) which has previously been certified organic in China, EU and Canada but currently is NOT listed in the USDA Organic Certification Integrity Database. Upon looking earlier this week it appears their PACS certificate has also expired. Bottom Line: these products are grown and manufactured in China where labor is cheap and quality control is less stringent. Personally, I would check out an American company like Mushroom Revival or Aloha Medicinals for many reasons, not the least of which is their history and transparency in practices. The truth is that lots of companies are getting rich doing this while you could EASILY grow enough mushrooms in a short time to keep yourself and your family in medicine for a lifetime!
