Calibrated in ice water upon arrival; it went right to 32° F. The meter movement fits in the housing too loosely. It rattles and shakes around more than I think is necessary. Probably related to the length, but again, I feel it could be restrained a bit more.Good quality overall and I would buy again.

Got this almost two years ago to test the temperatures in our (then new) compost bin. Received in excellent condition. Product box is compostable, but I use my box to store the thermometer.It's easy to use, and quickly stabilizes at the compost temperature (one or two minutes depending on how hot it is). When I first received, I checked against three different thermometers, each at a different temperature to cover the full range of this thermometer. In each case, it varied by a degree or less, which is very good accuracy for this type of thermometer.I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this thermometer to friends and family.
