This scanner is recommended by "best rated" articles, plus gives an explanation beside each code
I was surprised at how easy this was to use. The buttons are easy to push and the menu is easy to understand. It plugs in and out without a problem. It was so simple and fast that when it didn't show me a code I wondered if I was not using it right and did it several times! In addition to the codes this scanner also provides an explanation beside it. It was highly praised by professional sites in their 'best rated' articles on small scanners. They say it is easy to read, has easy instructions. They said this was the only model that also gave an explanation beside the code; I thought that all scanners would, but apparently not the case. So I confidently purchased this brand upon their recommendation...The car I wanted to check is a 2001 Corolla and I was hearing a whine, so I decided to get a scanner to check it out. Since I only know the basics when it comes cars, I thought it would be helpful to have one at home since my car is older. I was glad to see that the scanner found no code. Ultimately the whine was the carburetor and I had it repaired. From that time til now I haven't needed it, but I confess I've hooked it up a couple of times just for the fun of it. As a non-mechanic I think this scanner is perfect, and since the reviews were written with a mechanic in mind I expect a mechanic might like it as well.

Works perfect and it’s very easy to use
I’ve looked at several code readers, and this one seemed to be the easiest one to use and to read.It works extremely well, and it has so many options. It will identify the problem, it will turn off the check engine light. It runs a diagnostics on itself to make sure everything is calibrated and it gives you a menu where you can select metric or US measurements, you can turn off and on the beep For the buttons it’s a lot that you get for all these $40I already have battery testers and multimeter so I did not get the one with the battery clips. I wanted something to be a little streamline and this worked perfect.

Great tool for the price!
This scanner has already saved me money on its first use.Long story short I purchased this so I could figure out my check engine light on my 09 vibe AWD. My cel was causing my AWD not to work...turns out loads of my codes where fixed by a previous mechanic and that a damaged wire on my downstream O2 sensor was causing off of my remaining issues. Between p0171 and p0137 I narrowed it down with live data as the voltage never changed in the sensor and p0171 can be a by product of p0137 to limit AWD use in some cars.Instead of paying the $150 for an oe brand sensor plus diagnostic and more labor charges through a local shop I bought one online and ended up paying a mobile mechanic to do the install. Light is gone and I watched the voltage go up and down with joy.For the money this thing does a lot. My one gripe is the order of live data seems a bit off with b1s2 being first instead of b1s1 for the O2 sensor but this maybe a weird thing with my car. If you take your time and learn how to read the data you can do a lot of diagnostics with this tool even if codes are not popping up. I do like that you are able to select certain data as well during data streams. While this is not a end all be all tool it can definitely help diy and potentially new talent to the auto repair world w/o dropping hundreds of thousands of dollars on a scan tool in my opinion.

Saved me hundreds
Just want to read out codes and clear them, really. Does all kinds of things I will never use but works on a new Nissan Sentra where my years old scanner did not. And then this one can be updated the next time it gets outdated. Appreciate that it is big enough and easy to see and read. Read out a crank position sensor code, was glad it wasn't impossible to get to and replaced it myself - and can only imagine how much money I saved, but the scanner more than paid for itself in just one use.

You still have to use the internet to get the meaning of the error codes
I was able to diagnose my car with it to get an error code. However, the unit claim that you do not have to look up the code on the internet is wrong. That claim of not having to look up the code on the internet was why I purchased this unit. Since one still has to look up the codes on the internet, I could have purchased a less expensive unit that does the same thing. Typically I would return a misleading product but I'll keep it. I did find the unit's logic hard to follow but then they all are probably that way.Foxwell contacted me and made things right so I have changed my review from 3 stars to 5 stars.

Gets the job done!
Works great, needed live data for my upstream O2 sensor and after reading over the manual, I was able to pinpoint the issue just fine. It connected a lot quicker than l expected too. I had a P0130(upstream) and P0456 code. The live data also reflected that the upstream sensor needed to be replaced. I changed my canister purge valve and the P0456 cleared and so did my P0130 after replacing sensor. Easy and accurate!

Better than expected
I didn't know what to expect at the price I paid, but this is a very handy and capable scanner. It does everything I need it to do and has many other features I'll likely never need. I have compared this with many other much more expensive units and have been extremely satisfied.
