Scotts Turf Builder Rapid Grass Tall Fescue Mix, Combination Seed and Fertilizer, Grows Green Grass in Just Weeks, 5.6 lbs.

Follow the directions, water, and you will have grass. My dog tore up my backyard grass wise, and just looked terrible. Bought this bag, spread the seed around. Watered often, recommends twice a day. Got a fair amount of rain after I laid the seed, so that may have helped. About a week in you can see sprouts, around that two week mark it was growing well. Patchy, and seems slow. But it does grow. Can't control how it grows or patches. As for weeds, your outside, you may get weeds. It happens. I'm satisfied with the product. Will eventually buy another bag or two to cover a few other areas.

I hardly review any products but I wanted to make sure I left a review this time around. The rapid grass fescue mix works well and far exceeded my expectations. Make sure you till your soil, spread the seed, rake the seed into the soil and...water, water, water.I have full, thick, grass, growing in just under 2 weeks. I made it a point to water every evening (not over watering, though), keeping that soil moist to allow the seeds to germinate. It's been pretty sunny and hot out in Los Angeles the past few weeks, so I'm sure that helped a ton as well.In any event, this seed has helped fill in bald spots and empty spots, giving my lawn that full, green, lush, look. The seed helped me save a ton of money that I otherwise would have spent on sod.

My photos show before and after, about a 3 week difference. I'm relatively happy with this seed. As you can see, grass is growing. However, I have a few spots that just won't sprout anything and I think its due to increased shade in those areas. So if you have a shady area, this seed won't work I'm guessing. Also, it isn't as thick as I'd want it. Maybe in due time. I might put more seed down.

For the past 28 years, I have tried unsuccessfully maintaining a beautiful lawn to complement my wife's stunning gardens on our one-acre property. I experimented with various grass seed brands, including some expensive options, but with no success. However, this past summer, I decided to try to improve my lawn’s appearance again and purchased Scotts Turf Builder Rapid Grass Tall Fescue Mix. To minimize potential financial losses if it didn't work, I bought only one small bag and seeded a section of our lawn that struggled to grow thick grass. This area included a small dirt hill that was particularly resistant to grass growth.I carefully followed the package's instructions. I raked out all the dead matter and adhered to the spreading guidelines. I paid particular attention to the watering recommendations. Within three weeks, delicate, soft grass began to sprout throughout the entire section, and a month and a half later, the area was lush and green, including the bare hillside. I plan to use this seed again for the rest of the lawn.The manufacturer advises that the seed is treated with an anti-fungicide (Mefenoxam). Therefore, it’s crucial to read the label carefully and follow the planting, watering, and cleanup recommendations. Since my dog likes to dig in the soil with her mouth, I decided to err on the side of caution by keeping her off the seeded section for three weeks.

Seeded almost 2 weeks ago with two 5.6 lb bags. Raked areas, put down seed, covered with "lawn soil." Watered daily in the spring (no extreme cold or hot temperatures). 0% germination. Like literally not one sprout with two full bags put down on three different lawns in my yard (back, side, front). Wish there was some way to return but obviously not.

Scotts Turf Builder Rapid Grass Tall Fescue Mix was easy to apply with a handheld Scotts spreader. Ground prep, seeding and watering schedule were straight forward. The results, however, were uneven, even where soil composition was the same.The bottom of one slope that had been resistant to healthy grass growth did very well; beginning to show growth after a couple of weeks and filed in within four. A similar section, with similar treatment, started to show very thin growth after four weeks, and appears not to be thickening.Several patch spots resulted in no new grass growth at all, and one 4x12 section filled in solely with weeds, despite being weeded, turned over and composted two weeks before seeding.I am still in search of a good product.

I needed/wanted plush, thick grass. I live in Oklahoma and was trying to find something that could handle the very hot sunny days during the summer with watering at night a few times a week.I've been so pleasantly surprised by this product!! I went in sort of blind, fingers crossed, hoping I'd done enough research when I bought this.Not only did the grass FLOURISH and look pretty but it actually lasted through the VERY VERY COLD winter!!!! I could not believe it!I've had SEVERAL compliments and people have asked me what I used bc they've tried EVERYTHING under the sun in this crazy hot & freezing weather without much success.The only downside is the price! Very pricey! However, I looked up this product at Lowe's and realized I can get much larger bags for a MUCH better price.
