Q: will it hold the memory card while in its plastic holder that card comes in?

There are two larger pockets provided for this purpose. The others will hold either full size sd cards by themselves or micro sd cards inside their sd adapters. I think this is a good compromise, otherwise it would become too bulky with all those plastic cases inside it.

Hi, All 22 slots (small and large) will fit SD, SDHC, Mini SD, Micro SD, Memory Stick Pro Duo, XD and MMC cards. Compact Flash (CF) cards can be stored in the 8 large slots. Each memory card case has 22 slots: 18 small slots that hold cards up to 24mm wide and 4 large slots that hold cards up to 43mm wide.If the Nintendo switch cartridges is the same size as any of the cards mentioned then the case should work.
