Fantastic Mic for Harp, and Other...

I decided to get a mic specific to harp, instead of playing into my vocal mic, and bought this and the Shure Bullet. The Bullet is going back. It had a great rough blues tone out of the box but I'm not fighting that ridiculous feedback. I'm mainly a singer and guitarist so I just need this setup to work without becoming at feedback control. This Fireball has no issue with feedback I have found. This also fits my hands better; and I have big hands. I like the volume control better, and it definitely has more range. To get the Bullet sound when I want it I use FX.Pro-Tip: Try a right angle plug for hooking to the mic instead of the standard straight output. I tested with both and this is great. You are fighting less, without that weight dragging down further away from the mic. Also, use a windscreen.

Great ability great!!!

I love this mic! It is specifically for the harmonica, beautiful sound and quality worth every penny. I was worried about plugging up to a guitar amp but I researched it then plugged it in and it works great no need to get a fancy new tube amp if your a beginner.

Beat Box Mic

I know this mic is for Harmonica, but it has to be the best mic I've tried for beat-box, with the S-58(Sure-58) as a pretty close second place, runner up. You really have to have a nice rig to pick out the difference with most sounds. The FB-V (FireBall-V) has a short body and a slightly larger head than my S-58 mic.The shorter body on the FB-V makes it a lot lighter and differently balanced than a standard mic shape, but absolutely perfect for cupping in your hand, like you do with a harmonica or beat-box..I really like the feel a lot more, and it seems to pick up more bass, than my S-58.Lip bass, sounds really fat, and you can aim your mouth dead on, down into the top of the mic, instead of angled across it like you have to on a S-58.It also has a volume on it. It's the red thing in the image, right below the cage head adapter. It feels well built and rolls easily - with a little weight behind it.., but, as a volume control, it seems to be rather touchy, with all the variability in the first 1/8 of a turn. Turning it up more, doesn't seem to do anything much. (four stars, ONLY for that reason)This really isn't a problem for me, since I use an external volume, and I only ever use the built in rolling vol. to turn the mic all the way on, or off.Great mic. I recommend it to anyone who is doing or getting into beat-box.I think, this black-friday, I'll buy a second back up one.

Great mic for recording harmonica

This is a great mic for use with a harp. I have a fairly complete project studio in my home, complete with a number of condenser and dynamic mics. I'm running the Audix through a Yamaha N8 digital mixer into Cubase 8 Pro and the sound is clean and accurate. The mic is extremely well made and compares with much more expensive hardware. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the product.

Audix Fireball-V Harmonica Mic-be very cautious

Ive been playing harp for a long time and ive used a lot of equipment. My primary amps have been a 59 Bassman reissue and a Sonny Jr.- Sonny II. If you're used to a mic with a crystal or ceramic element don't buy this mic! The gain on this thing is pretty poor. A good mic for acoustic style harp or singing/playing through the PA..Sonny Boy style...but not for you if you want a mic with gain or a crunchy sound. Im not in the habit of saying anything negative ever but if you're used to a JT-30 or Green Bullet with a vintage element this thing will disappoint you. On the plus side the size of this mic is cool and the volume control always wins points with me. Im kind of stuck with this thing so im going to try an EQ and maybe try a differnt amp or two. Just a heads up. If you think you'd like to buy this mic id strongly advise you find someone who has one and try it with your harmonica rig set up. Thanks and Happing Harping.

Exactly what I was looking for

I was wanting to record both my diatonic and chromatic harmonica playing and was looking for a good microphone. This was just what I needed. I paired it with a Focusrite Scarlett Solo audio interface and am getting the clean sound I was looking for.

Awesome harp mic!

Bought this to replace a "many times repaired" bullet mic. The reviews that I read said that feedback is at a minimum even when cupping the mic. That is very accurate! My soundman is thrilled as he's not fighting to control this mic as he did the bullet. You do need pedals to achieve that old time overdrive, but it's worth it! Very happy customer!!

The volume control is not such a great idea. I kept turning it down inadvertently

I play Jazz with a chromatic harmonica. I have been playing in front of a mic stand. The standard Sure SM58 is a little heavy for me to hold for any length of time. This one is just the right size for my hand. I use a windscreen to avoid metal contact chatter between it an the harmonica. It has a smooth response across the spectrum. One caveat: The volume control is not such a great idea. I kept turning it down inadvertently. So I taped it at maximum. Maybe that's why it is less expensive then the one without the volume contro

Great harmonica microphone

Absolutely love this mic. It sounds great and it's very comfortable in the hand when playing harmonica. It's also much lighter than a bullet mic.

una bomba

Piccolo , potente e col volume regolabile. E' stato concepito per i suonatori di armonica , che , notoriamente, non è uno strumento con un gran volume, ma si può adattare a tutti gli strumenti a fiato, a mio parere. rapporto qualità prezzo : imbattibile
