Q: best results with free hand vs laser printer?

a laser printer in my opinion will always deliver crisper more steady lines, but when desperate times call for desperate measures, doing a stencil by hand can turn out good as well. i usually trace whatever i’m stenciling onto the top sheet with a pencil, then remove whatever i’m tracing and go over the outline with a thick ballpoint pen. bic crystals are perfect for this, also it seems to transfer better when you draw it out on top of something not totally solid. for example, i usually open a spiral notebook to the first page and place the whole stencil paper on top instead of doing it on a table or something hard and flat. not sure why this helps it transfer better but the results are night and day for me. hope this helps!
