I would not recommend this extension or the base gate it supposedly fits on to. I found that the design of this extension system is inherently flawed.This extension fits onto the core Carlson gate by pegs on the extension tucking into holes in the gate. Then, the whole thing is supposed to stay in place by pressure. That's the hope of this system, however, this system is destined to failed from the start.Firstly, in my extension that I received, one of the pegs was missing. So great, right? That makes one point of weakness that the overall system really couldn't afford. I was kind of able to jerryrig a solution, but still, that is not something I expected to do fresh out of the box.Secondly, and more importantly, the very addition of an extension to the core gate creates a joint at the point where the extension and gate meet. And joints, like they do in our bodies, flex and bend. While the extended gate feels sturdy parallel along its line, pushing up against it causes it to bend right at that joint. This isn't an installation error - I really tried everything to fix it - but rather a design error. Nothing but those two inch little pegs keep the extension from swinging around the point where it meets the gate.I wish I had taken pictures of all of this to better illustrate what I am talking about. But of course I was just so miffed by this whole darn thing that I had to get the extension and the gate back in their boxes and out of the way as soon as possible. I returned both immediately.Overall, I would not recommend this gate extension. I wouldn't recommend the gate it is advertised to fit onto either.

I bought the Carlson wide gate and this extension.The 4 inch extension that comes with the gate has pins top and bottom.This extension and the 6 inch extension only have pins at the top. They have a loose fitting channel at the bottom. The channel allows the joint to flex so the entire gate is very unsteady even when completely tightened.I have an older 6 inch extension with pins top and bottom. Much more sturdy.I need a sturdy installation. I may drill and bolt the lower joints or engineer something else.The engineering on the 24" and new design 6" is to make them cheaper to make.

I recently ordered the “Carlson Extra Wide Walk Through Pet Gate with Small Pet Door” but just needed a little bit extra gate to fit my hallway. It was difficult to tell by the description or other reviews if this would fit the specific gate I ordered but thankfully it did and it was just the right size for what I needed. Easy to add on to the original gate & so far pretty sturdy!

This is exactly what I needed for a gate that was given to me. The model i was given is #7030 carlson extra wide gate. I didn't know for sure if this would fit that model since the specs on this page say it's ONLY for #9030 but it's not! It works for #7030!

Works great with our Regalo 1164 baby gate.Bear in mind the more extensions you use, the more bow you'll encounter. We had to use the factory Regalo 12" and 4" extensions plus this 6" Carlson extension to fit our walkway and it has a good amount of flex to it.Please let me know if you found this review helpful!

Works great for my large walkway area between my kitchen and dining room. Its easy to install. I will say, the bottom doesn't have a rod to connect, it only has a piece that slips over the gate so it is a little wobbly. I tightened it as much as I could and the wobble is minimal. I'm not afraid for my toddler to hold on to it.

This extension did the trick. I've got a set of french doors, making my doorway double-wide. This extension fit right onto the appropriate gate and is nice and stable when everything is tightened down. I found that it also looked a lot nicer in person than it does in the pictures, something I was worried about. Our dog CAN knock this over if she bodychecks it hard enough, but at that point she'd be doing damage to our doors anyways. This works fine as a deterrent.I will say that putting this together might require multiple people. Trying to hold the extension and gate in place while you tighten everything, especially if the animals in question are curious, can be very difficult. I wish the extension attached somehow even when the gate was loose. Not enough of a complaint to knock off a star though.

It works! I wish I hadn’t lost the original extension, but $16 wasn’t too bad, I got it “like new”/used on here. My doorway is 39 inches wide. Compatible with my top paw gate (Petsmart store brand) which is identical to my Carlson one.

La facilidad que se tiene para cubrir el espacio que se necesitacon la facilidad de las extensiones.Tuve la necesidad de cubrir una área de tres metros y medio y las extensines se pandean al hacer la fuerza para que la puerta cierra, or lo que hay que quitar presión para que no se vea pandeado, pero no queda firme y la puerta o cierra.

Extensión necesaria para complementar la puerta para masotas, ya que solo así calza perfecto a la medida standar de las puertas en México.
