Let’s just say the setup took as long as opening the box it came in, less then 10 seconds. All you have to do to assemble is slide the door in and set it on the base. If you don’t want to waste time with tons of screws that could be a weak point then this is the right tumbler for you, there is no worry of anything rusting over time an falling apart. What I also think is great will be having the ability to roll it around my garden so I can just take handfuls out to spread around plants.Pros: no real assembled, no metal stand that will rust, sturdy, and it has built in groves that act as hand holds plus aid in turning the compost.Cons: none at this time.Update July 2019. Liked the first one so much bought another this time with the blue lid. It has done well to compost quickly. It was convenient to roll around the yard to each spot I want to use the compost. Trick to get this to compost quickly is to make all your materials super small. One thing I did notice if a want to be picky is with the small holes on the sides you do have some material that comes out, but I don’t take issue since it needed fresh air.

There isn’t really an assembly, you slide the door on and stack it on its stand. I looked for a long time for a porch composter for small spaces. I ended up buying one of these as a test. I spent a few months with it and then when it filled up I bought a second one so I could have one composter composting and one being loaded. They are very sturdy and very slim but still hold a lot of compost. One note, they do not have a “tea” catcher so if you use this on a porch like me you’ll want to get a tray to go under it so it doesn’t stain / rot your porch. Thats not a flaw though just a feature that some composters have and some don't.

We are super pleased with this little composter that we purchased as a replacement for a Miracle Grow Tumbler we got here on Amazon and returned. The Miracle Grow tumbler is a total ripoff after seeing this Hotfrog.We were looking for a small, easily hidden composter and this little guy is perfect. The dimensions are 24'' long x 24'' tall (in the base) x 12'' wide. The tumbler comes completely assembled so it literally goes from box to garden instantly. The plastic is a heavy duty plastic, similar to the thickness one would see on a children's playground. The door to put in contents slides nicely and the composter spins easily in it's base. The instructions that come with have an overview of the composting process along with the do's/don'ts of what to put in.This is our first time composting and are super excited about the process! This is a perfect composter for a small space...just what we needed.

We used this composter for about two months and really liked it, but this morning realized two large holes the size of oranges had been chewed straight through the heavy plastic walls.It was a good value, low maintenance, and easy to assemble, but at this point it's now worthless to us :(

If you'e looking for a compost tumbler that won't cost an arm and a leg, and you don't want the hassle of trying piece together a jigsaw puzzle...then buy this! It came fully assembled. All I had to do was unwrap the lid and slide it in. It's a manageable size for a victory garden, and my 5 yr. old son loves spinning it for me. That's double-points for awesome if it gets the kids active in the garden. Can't wait to see the compost results!

This is not a great product if you are putting in your kitchen scraps. When I turn it to rotate it as the directions say to, a disgusting liquid spills out of the side aeration holes. This liquid, which is normal, stinks and gets all over your hands. The opening is so small that it is hard to pour even a bowl of scraps into it. The top that is supposed to easily slide to the side, to open it to put in the scraps, is so hard to open. At the same time flies are flying in your face and nasty maggot are in the crease. At first I thought this was great but now that it is only about 1/3 full, I don't want to use it anymore for anything other than yard waste.

you have to know what you are doing when composting... our diligent gathering of eggshells, fruit and veggie stems, as well as coffee grounds is not enough to create compost. We use this at the beach bungalow, and it feels great to keep fruit & vegetable scraps out of the landfill, but it can create an amazing garbage odor when rolled, as directed, without the right balance of brown and green matter. It's perfect a small home and 2 people...and there have been NO critter problems.

I have a very small yard and this composter tucks in very inconspicuously. The trade off is that I can fill it in about 6 weeks (one person home). May buy a second so I can let one composter rest while I fill a second. Great product—it has inspired several of my friends to begin composting.

I’m new at this but it’s most interesting. I’ve used it all summer long and it’s only half full. No assembly was great. No liquid leaks out unless you turn it completely upside down which I don’t. It sits quite conveniently on my back deck. Thought I’d have to move it in the hot summer months but I didn’t. There were days I could smell it, but not bad. I think I made the right purchase.

Small -- wouldn't work well for large amounts of yard waste, but I use primarily for food waste. So far, have gotten away with a fall and spring emptying. The sliding door does have a tendency to freeze up in the winter, however -- I quite often had to use something to hammer it open (that said, the frozen plastic didn't crack with the abuse I submitted it to). The only major downside is it is not easy, and very messy to get the compost out of the composter. Basically, you have to lift the composter up and shake the contents out of the small opening. After the initial enthusiasm, I tend not to roll it too often, and likely not enough.
