This One Works!
A great item that works and is worth it's weight in gold when you can't get the lid off of the sauerkraut jar!I just used mine yesterday and it was pretty amazing.I tried for several minutes to hand-turn the jar lid to no avail...and ended up with intensely red and hurting fingers.I placed the jar on the handy little silicone disc to keep if from moving on the counter, carefully aligned the "turner/opener" on the plastic lid of the cold, organic sauerkraut jar and with one slow and smooth move the lid was loose and off. Love it!

Works great!
Wow, I wish I had found this years ago. I've tried other jar opening gadgets but they either broke or were little help in opening jars. Some damaged the lids so they could not be used again, so product had to be transferred to a different container (ugh). This has worked great on everything I've tried it on, small and large lids.

Works pretty well but be careful how you use it.
I bought this Oxo opener as a temporary assist with opening jars after an injury, but I think I'm going to keep it.As with most Oxo kitchen products, it is a well-constructed tool and it comes with a handy rubber pad that adds grip to the bottom of jars you want to open. However, but it can be a bit awkward to twist this tool with one hand while holding a larger sized jar in the other. There is potential for things to go sideways if you put a lot of pressure on either item. Additionally, the tool has metal teeth on one side in order to really get a grip on lids so if the tool slips so there is a chance you could come in contact with those teeth.Having said that, if you don't go ham and just take your time with the first jar or three [until you've worked out the ergonomics], you should be fine. This opener works best for me when I put a jar on the rubber pad, then pull the tool with my left hand while gripping the jar with my right hand [easier to pull than to push!] Your results may vary.If you have an injury, a bit of arthritis or you just and need a little help with your grip, I'd recommend this tool.Beyond that, I'd consider a mounted version so you can use both hands to open stubborn lids.

This product will keep her happy
An elderly neighbor texts me if she cannot open a jar, so I am giving this as a present for her birthday so she can continue to make me treats. She makes wonderful soups & cookies to thank me for my help (its not difficult and I like to chat with her). She needs this so she can continue to supply me with said soups and cookies. :)

Voted Best Gadget
Bought to give as a gift because I have one that is many years old, and it's my favorite 'toy'. The person recieving it gave a big thumbs up. Uses it every day for all lids. Big and small.

Much used purchase.
I’m so happy to have this on hand I can no longer get open a bottle or a jar I’m no longer able to as I’m getting older and don’t have the strength I use to have.

Still too hard to open
This opener did not work well for me. It’s quite large and required a lot of force applied to the lid and I still could not open the jar. Disappointed since OXO is a good brand and I have lots of their other kitchen products.

Great Tool, But Missing Instructions
It is a quality jar opener. I even use it on milk carton caps and soda bottles. I only give it 4 stars because there is a circular silicone “thing” that came with it and the instructions are supposedly on that, but I can’[t read them. I have no idea what it is for or how to use it. I am legally blind and have devices to read what I can’t see, but none of them can read it either! So I expected better from OXO. If you don’t mind that and can read it, then go for it, but I am unhappy that I can’t us the “thing” that comes with the opener. Arthritic hands need help, and this is a great tool otherwise.
