Welcome to Writing Workshop is as inviting as a book as workshop should be to our students. The pages are set with beautiful and calming colors, much like our classes should be. The headlines, topics, and ideas are presented in a soothing manner, much like our mini-lessons should be. And the steady pace of learning and evolving is given to us with plenty of models and examples for us to pull from, much like we want to give our students.This book is the book I will be giving to teachers who need a primer in writing workshop. Shubitz and Dorfman have done something special here, and have broken down writing workshop into tangible and meaningful parts. The beauty of the book itself really does wonders to compliment the honesty, and sheer volume of information in this work.Workshop has been written about for years at this point, but it wasn't until now I could recommend a book that sets the floor for us to start and expand. Before, teachers had to combine the knowledge of multiple books just to get a grasp on writing workshop, but now we have this wonderful treasure.
