Microplane Stainless Cheese Mill, Stainless Steel

This is best Cheese Mill ever! It is easy to clean and store. I have had many and my biggest complaint is that they are hard to work, break, rust and difficult to clean without getting cut. I use it often! I do not know why you can no longer find it in the stores. However, I am thankful that Amazon carries it.

Sharp blade and easy to use

This is my second Microplane cheese mill. I had the first one for a couple of years, until it wouldn't hold the shredding blade in place anymore while turning. So, I replaced it with this newer model in Dec 2012. It fell apart a couple of weeks ago. The problem seems to be that the tube that holds the sharp blade in place is plastic, and has little plastic teeth that fit into little grooves in the sharp metal plate. As you use the mill, the blade digs into the little plastic teeth, and wear them down. Once the teeth are sufficiently worn down, the blade is no longer in a static position, and as you turn the body to shred the cheese, the blade turns too, and is unable to shred the cheese. They need to make the tube out of metal so the teeth won't wear down. I'm sad this unit only lasted a few months, had it lasted a few years like the previous model I would replace it. I'll stick to the flat planes for now until they get this design flaw sorted out.

Works surprisingly well with any hard cheese. Easy to load, easy to use at the table (blades are really sharp) and easy to clean when needed.This won't replace your box grater which is faster and more versatile.It does allow you to do away with the little jars and cardboard packages of domestic parmesan or romano, so everyone gets to grate their own at the table,We can now use various imported cheeses (e.g. asiago and sharp provolone) and are not limited to the big two.Probably will get another one (or two) to give guests a choice of cheeses. Would be nice if more colors available.

It takes a lot of pressure to grate a hard cheese like parmesan. The construction is very simple, but the design is not effective. The cheese is pressed against a circular grater, and spun over the grater. As a result the cheese in the middle is moving very little distance with each rotation, so it grates very slowly. The barrel style grater is much more effective.

Pro: It grates excellentCon: Any size chunk of cheese makes the "Top" sit up too high and if you dont use the whole chunk there is seal to keep it fresh. Doesnt fit in my refrigerator shelves except the top one for tall items

Works ok if you push hard on the top as you turn it. Doesn't hold as much cheese as I would have liked.

I was looking for a new cheese grater and this one looked easy enough. The blades are flimsey and very bendy - the plastic housing is - well what good can you say about plastic. All in all a big looser on the cheese grating front.

El producto es de calidad, aunque el precio es demasiado alto. Ralla bastante bien el parmesano. Está muy bien que traiga varias cuchillas.

We use a lot of parmesan cheese and we bought this for its convenience. It is in fact simpler to use an ordinary microplane grater as it is fiddly to assemble and clean.

Die Ware wurde wie beschrieben geliefert. Die Lieferung erfolgte sehr schnell. Die Verpackung ist in Ordnung.. Ich bin zufrieden.Die feine Reibe sollte durch eine noch grobere Reibescheibe ersetzt werden. Bei hartem Käse muß dann mit weniger Druck gedreht werden.
